ORE Freighter Skill, ORE Freighter & ORE Jump Freighter.

ORE Freighters could be part of the continuation of ORE ship separation, with the new ORE Mining Frigate coming soon™

I thought how would ORE (NPC Corp) move all the ore for processing, not like we do now with haulers and common (racial) freighters, they would of come up with their own versions (see Idea below) more suited to shifting/hauling ore.

And yes, Orcas and Rorquals do a good job, but they do a better job staying in system giving mining fleet bonuses, rather than just flying around hauling ore and ice.
__________

Idea Skill:

ORE Freighter

Requires ORE Industrial level 5

The follow up skill to ORE Industrial, which would then allow for the following new ships
__________

Idea Ship:

ORE Freighter

200,000 m3 Hold
500,000 m3 Ore Hold (1,000,000 m3 Maximum)

Skill Bonus:
ORE Freighter
5% bonus to cargo hold capacity, 20% to ore hold capacity and 5% bonus to maximum velocity per level
(20% to ore hold capacity = 100,000 m3 per level)
__________

Idea Ship:

ORE Jump Freighter

100,000 m3 Hold
250,000 m3 Ore Hold (500,000 m3 Maximum)

Skill Bonus:
ORE Freighter
5% bonus to cargo hold capacity, 20% to ore hold capacity and 5% bonus to agility per level
(20% to ore hold capacity = 50,000 m3 per level)

Jump Freighter
10% bonus to shield, armor and hull hitpoints and 10% reduction in jump fuel need per level
__________

Arrow Notes:

The rest of these two ships stats would obviously be similar to the other 4 ships in their class
_

As Jump Fuel, the ORE Jump Freighter could possibly use...
1. Oxygen Isotopes or a larger amount of any of the other three ice based isotopes
2. Liquid Ozone
3. Heavy Water

The idea being to make fueling it generic and not just force it to use Oxygen Isotopes, which are native to the Blue Ice and Thick Blue Ice of Gallente space
_

I've kept the '5% bonus to cargo hold capacity' for both ships to keep them in line with the other freighters as they have no slots for cargo expansion modules or rigs

They are easily a match for the other freighters at low skill levels, with the exception of having an ore hold rather than just cargo space, at higher skill levels these ships will exceed the carrying capacity of the other freighters, mainly in their ability to carry ores
_

As for Null Security Space abuse of these as ore silo's, they would still have the freighter 'No Jetcan' and 'No Remote Access' restrictions and suffer from being very large and obvious targets if stored in a PoS shield bubble, they could also be restricted from docking at anything but a Station, Outpost or Capital Hangar/Maintenance Array at CCP's discretion

Hope these suggestions/ideas meet with community approval,
Ken.

Great Idea. Hope CCP give it a good lookover!

perhaps the only thing I would do is tone down the base cargohold size and maybe bump up the base orehold size to give the ships greater emphasis of being ore carriers.

I don't know if one can put compressed ore into ore bays, to which would give roquals an extra use: compressing ore down so that the ORE jump freighter can move an absurd amount of ore back to high-sec.

Where the science gets done

Good points and already considered...

They would also have a secondary use to move mining ships, modules, fittings, crystals, etc.
Reducing the cargo capacity would be down to CCP, but getting up to 1,000,000 m3 ore hold (500,000 m3 JF) is in my opinion more than enough compensation.

And as far as I am aware Compressed Ore counts as Cargo, I could be wrong on this.
