Rather than have multiple test server installs, can I just create multiple launch icons pointing at different test servers. I appreciate that each time I visit a different server this would result in downloading the appropriate data again, but I've got more room in my bandwidth than my hard drive.

In other words, would appending the Buckingham server address to the SiSi install launcher work?

ie.

For Buckingham: C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\Singularity\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.69

Yes but you have to copy over the TQ launcher.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

So SiSi and Buckingham are mutually exclusive and I'd have to overwrite my TQ install? That's not going to work then. :(

Oh well, just a thought.

Yeah... I won't be touching a test server again until sisilauncher is brought back. I'm not going to go through all that hassle when so much vital feedback gets ignored anyway.

Sisi and Bucky are running different versions of server code.

The one on Sisi is a bit older than TQ but with the running beta of Dust integrated and they don't want to mess with that since that would require updating all the current Dust clients.

The one on Bucky contains the latest EvE code, and will probably continue to get new code for testing including both new EvE code for the winter and Dust upgrades for their own (closed) testing.

Makes sense to me at least.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Sisilauncher will never be supported again - we have our own dedicated launcher now.

Buckingham will not have any winter code - that's what we'll be using Duality for.

Sisilauncher will never be supported again - we have our own dedicated launcher now.

So ccp is done with the whole 'we want people to test our stuff so we will make it easy for them' initiative and now onto the 'make them think they will get an unfair advantage while ignoring serious feedback' bent. Got it. Testing time is wasted time.

Reading your diagram carefully it says that TQ is EVE's Production Server, and SISI will be Dust514's "Production Server" does that mean LIVE Dust514 games will be happening on the Singularity server only while testing is going on or Singularity will be handling all Dust interactions moving forward after release? Or are you going to have TQ handle Dust when you go into live release? It's just confusing because you used Production Server twice to indicate live releases...

Thanks for the answer to the inane question. :)

I dont get what's so hard to grasp ...

  • TQ is Eve-Onlines server and will remain so
  • Sisi will be used for the DUST open Beta. You will be able to connect to it with an eve test client
  • Bucky will be used for CCP's internal DUST Testing. You might be able to connect to it as well using an Eve test client
  • Duality will be used for the Eve Online Winter expansion testing. We will get (somewhat limited) public access.

Actually, no. You're right. It is confusing. What?

No, we are never going to be able to connect one Eve Client to Four different versions of the Eve server software. The Client and Server software versions must match. Since CCP need to patch each of the four servers at different times with different versions then the clients have to also be updated. The only way to connect one client to four differnet server versions would be to somehow track the changes in each version of the client and substitute changed files in another folder while still retaining a pointer to the main eve client. If you think that ANYBODY could achieve this programming miracle without creating more bugs than you are trying to to fix then you need to get outside more.

Because its terribly hard to copy your eve folder, and make a new shortcut.

^^^This.

But still- they should add old sis launcher functionality to their current launcher

Hopefully the 2.0 launcher that was almost ready for the new Bucky server will be deployed soon and will have the functianality we desire. Hababkuk sayed there was a build ready for Bucky but has "two" many bugs so they had to hold off.

The concern is that Sisi might not be able to present Dust in the best light after the next release. With all the new code how is sisi handling it?
