Have any proof he was a steroid user? There are a ton of guys his size that never used steroids. Given his demeanor, I would assume not. Steroids are notorious for causing violent mood swings.

Yup. Don't think that the message was that someone could get that big on nothing but vegetables though, but rather that someone who already looked that big could become a vegetarian.
