Manticore for Null Sec PvE (!)

Prior to my current stint in the hospital I had been slowly getting bored at Hi Sec mission running. Looking to eand my horizon into Low and Null, I had the idea to go ratting into Null Sec for fun and profit How viable of an idea is this?

I have caldari ship and missile skills thus the Manticore seems to be an ideal candidate (currently training for it).

Most Manticore fits on Battleclinic include bomb launchers. Due to ammo size (and cost) that seems to be pretty useless for PvE.

I understand that there probably are more efficient ways to make ISK, but the fun (thrill) factor is quite important to me also.

Other then a MWD, what other Mid slot modules would you place (remember PvE)?

High slot will be 3 T2 torp launcher, low two BCU II (alternatives?)

All advise is very welcome, I would especially be interested in hearing from people who have done this or something simmilar.

A bomb launcher is useless for pve.

3xT2 torps and full ammo bay (relevant to the npc's) will last you a day or so if you are ratting seriously. Since you are using a manti, guristas will be the best option.

However, it is very risky for the isk involved. The locals wont like a neutral in their ratting systems. They will hunt you down. This wont matter if you are cloaky camping but since you'll be ratting belts, this will happen eventually.

There are a ton of other things involved in travelling in null sec from intel channels to bubbles which you should know about before venturing there.

Even if everything works perfectly and you find an empty nullsec with lots of belts, the problem with manticore is surviving the frigs in the belt. Battleships are not a problem but you'll have to orbit as close as possible for you to kill them quickly. You will take damage from frigs and while its easy to clear a belt, you have to wait for it to recharge.

My opinion will be for you to join one of the null sec renter alliances. They usually dont require you to pvp and have ttheir upgraded systems with stations or pos support. And since you are used to lvl4s, using a bs to rat will be much more sensible and less risky.

Ratted from -10 with this in serp space, nemesis is better but still had no troubles at all with the manti. Watch out for the elite frigs cause they can scram and web and be annoying but nothing else really tracks you if you're doing it right.

This is what I use most of the time for ratting and scouting. I mostly use T1 ammo but keep a small quantity of faction and T2 in the hold for when special situations arise. Arbalest launchers are a nice option, even if you can use T2 launchers, as they free up cpu allowing for more fitting options.

Oh and nano refers to nanofiber internal structures, they increase speed and maneuverability a bit at the expense of hull hit points.

i used a pretty similar fit but i used a MWD and t2 launchers. but was fun as all hell lost a few of them and i still kept rebuilding my little "U-262"

You will earn more mission running in high sec than you do from belt ratting in 0.0 especially in a bomber.

I like to use a bomber as a scout and dps for doing 0.0 exploration, with alt(Ishtar) tanking the damage. Almost 700 dps with rage torps for a 50M ship is quite good.

I use the manti for all of my 0.0 ratting in serp space i use range and dmg rigs on mine

Hi,s = 3 x Arby torp launchers, cov ops cloak

Mids , i use , sesnor booster with targeting range script, TP, 1 MN AB, small shield ext


LOWS, BCU,

I use this in allmost evey instance less iam doing a sanctum or something, my tactics are just roll into a belt target one of the larger rats i want to kill last hit the ab and get my trans up and iam good to go, i use the ranger script because of the serp damps works fine and gets good DPS as well.
