We all know about it, perhaps the most famous being the starship USS Enterprise. Do the in-game navies have any form of well-established naming convention?

Perhaps Scrapheap *insert name* for Minmatar Navy?

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

Caldari have birds, Gallente have greekish gods and stuff, Amarr have biblical references, and minmatar have crudish names based on animals, weapons, weather and norse gods and violence in general.

That about sums it up.

In Templar One there is a Gallente Nyx called "GFS Passiac" so for the Gallente navy at least, yes there is a standard naming convention.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Yes, but it's always made me wonder if there is a species of bird called the scorpion. Smile

Maybe I should've been more clear.

I was thinking of the "USS" in "USS Enterprise".

Don't rightly know what that is actually called in military terms...

Don't forget the majestic bird that is the badger.

Given a few thousand years in the future EVE takes place in, scorpions and badgers have evolved to fly.

But there are no badgers or scorpions in the EVE galaxy.... I guess that the logical explanation would be that the people in EVE have gotten their Earth animals mixed up. It has been a while since they have seen a badger after all.

You don't often see the navy ship names, if they even have them. You only see their class or rank, like "federation hastatus" or "state wakizashi". I don't see why they would need a prefix though

Because "GFS Tiddlywinks" sounds way more authoritative than just naming your ship the "Tiddlywink".
