I dunno about the smile, but something about the eyes seems rather derpy to me.

Awww, I like your smile.

Atleast you can open your eyes.

Yeah Caldari smiling does need a buff. I'm limited to a kind of vicious smirk, and while that may be appropriate for EVE it's not necessarily what I'm after.

That's not how people smile. While the character creator is very, very limited when it comes to expressions, you're kind of doing it wrong.

First, the eyebrows. A smiling person's eyebrows are raised and relaxed - no furrowed forehead, just high, normal looking eyebrows. Those look confused, worried or even scared. If she were laughing at an awful joke, they would be lowered, but still relaxed.

Next, the eyes. This is one that almost no one notices, and is the surest way to spot a fake smile IRL. A person's eyes slightly squint when they smile, mostly from the bottom. This can be accomplished in the character editor by just clicking on each lower lid an very slightly raising them. Sadly, you can't recreate the wrinkles on the outer corner of the eye that form with a genuine smile.

Last, the mouth. That smile is too even and too big. Subtlety is key. A very slight smirk, just the littlest bit lopsided, and further tweaked until it looks just right would have a much more genuine effect.

And I had to zoom in real close to see whether Ivys current avatar actually smiles.

I noticed btw that I could see inside my mouth from certain angle and the 3d muscle tendons on the inside, which were obviously not meant to be seen that way..

ps. I rarely try to make my character have a 'friendly smile'', although the current avatar is closest to a one.

At least you HAVE eyes.
