My standing with Amarr states:

Amarr Empire 3.48 (Connections 4 raises your effective standing from 2.24)

But the numbers don't add up, what am I missing.

I have Social 5 (1.25)
and Connections 4 (1.16)

2.24 x 1.25 x 1.16 = 3.248 (not 3.48)

I worked out the difference and I came up with:
2.24 * ? = 3.48
X = 3.48 / 2.24
X = 1.55 (which is not my above multiplier)

so, where did the other 7% in difference come from
X = 1.55 / (1.25 * 1.16)
X = 6.89%

The math is a bit convoluted (it's not linear) :

Modified Standing = Existing standing + [(10-Existing standing)*(0.04*Connection skill lvl)]

so for your case :

Modified Standing = 2.24 + [(10-2.24)*(0.04*4)] = 3.48

P.S. A thought for NPE for CCP folks, make a quick ingame lookup so that people can lookup "disclosed" commonplace formula such as this.
Less simian players will appreciate it. The wiki is a poor place for such things unless you assign someone to actively maintain it for accuracy ... and most importantly clarity in writing.
