Can you help me compute my mining yield

Hello Pilots!

I am a newb player going on about 3 weeks now. Math has never been one of my strong points (probably putting me at a massive disadvantage in this game) so I'm hoping someone with experience in mining gear and good math skills can help answer this question.

I finally made enough to buy a Retriever and I've fitted it with 2x Strip Miner I lasers and 3 x MLU 1 modules (each giving 5% bonus to yeild I guess). I currently have my Mining skill at level 4 (days more training before it will be level 5) .

My question is if I want to focus on say mining Plagioclase how much MORE yield will I get if I install modulated strip miners with the appropriate cystal?

Thanks so much for any help or advice!

Reserved for answer while I do the maths.

UPDATE:

*Skills taken into account: Mining IV and Mining Barge II*

Retriever (2x Strip Miner I, 3 x MLU I, No boosts):

1.617,49 m3 of Ores each cycle, cycle time is 180 seconds (3 minutes)

Retriever (2x Modulated Strip Miner II (T1 Crystals), 3 x MLU I, No boosts):

1.752,28 m3 of Ores each cycle, cycle time is 180 seconds

Retriever (2x Modulated Strip Miner II (T2 Crystals), 3 x MLU I, No boosts):

1.887,07 m3 of Ores each cycle, cycle time is 180 seconds

Plagio size: 0,35 m3 for each block

T1 strips: 1617.49 / 0.35 = 4621,4 units a cycle
T2 strips / T1 crystal: 1752.28 / 0.35 = 5006.5 units a cycle
T2 strips / T2 crystal: 1887.07 / 0.35 = 5391.6 units a cycle.

Keep in mind there are a lot of skills that matter about yield, best idea. Buy a set, fit them, right click - show info, attributes tab should tell you the m3 yield

divide that yield by the size of the rock an you know how many units you get each cycle

OK, ignoring all the other modifiers (ship, astrogeology, etc).

Strip Miner I -> 540 m3 * 1.2 (mining) * 1.05^3 (MLUI) = 750 m3 /cycle * 2 = 1500 m3
Modulated Strip Miner II -> 360 m3 * 1.2 (mining) * 1.05 ^3 (MLU I) * 1.625 (crystal) = 812.65 m3/cycle * 2 = 1625.3 m3

cycle = 180 sec = 3min
1500/3 = 500 m3/minute
1625.3 / = 541.76 m3/minute

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Use EFT, if you don't have drones active it'll state mining yield in the dps window.

Thank you all! (especially for that math work J'Poll and Velicitia! ...yikes Shocked).

It's clearly well worth the benefit in skills and money to upgrade.

You can always find the latest EFT here :D https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=24359&find=unread

Also as an FYI EFT give mining yield in m3 per minute, strip miners have a cycle of 3 minutes, so if you see your strip miners have a yield of 3000 (6000 for two) then EFT will tell you that the yield is 2000 m3/min
