How it would work:
You log in to a random zone that contains a Drone Beacon, if a beacon does not exist one is created.
Drones may not use star-gates, so your there until you die *. Destroy wrecks to generate additional drones (depending on value of wreck contents) each player can control a swarm of up to 15 drones. Each drone does ~20 dps. When all drones are destroyed you re-spawn again.

Drones are welcome to chat in local but their words are seen only as binary to other pod pilots.

Over time (similar to sovereignty) drone structures are automatically created to facilitate jumping between beacons, this is accomplished through PVE tasks.

Drones offer no loot and no bounties, due to the random nature of the spawning system it is highly unlikely drones can be used for third party grieving.

In regards to balance, drones are a collective E-WAR on one drone affects all drones within the swarm. Drones have battleship level lock speeds and cannot be remotely boosted.

This brings nothing risked nothing gained PVP to EVE.

Drone kill will be credit to the hive you are we.

just make one planet that the characters from WoW live on, and it would be separated from us except for random orbital bombardment and dust 514 raids but we could not understand them. I bet our subs would increase by millions.

Of course nothing they could muster would be able to make us flinch in anyway.

Too bad internet isn't real life and we could just go invade other mmo's.

Better off as a station game like Slay

Better yet, from the captains quarters, you control a rogue drone like RTS game.
Except those who are killing your drones are Dust 514 co-op players in their Horde mode.
You get rewards for killing dust players and dust players get rewards for killing your drones.
You act like a commander and choose how groups are spawned per wave. if you take too long the AI will choose for you and you don't get any credit that wave.

I could actually see this being pretty awesome, it would certainly add a new element of challenge to PVE, I would say that the drones should drop better loot then normal drones, but then someone would just get a friend with a drone account to let them farm kill them. Maybe add in a mechanic that forces the drone to start shooting whenever they get near a capsuleer?

You want to create a whole other subsctiption tier based on what? Are you expecting to have drones fittable with the same variety as ships? If not, then isn't the PVP you are talking about just click to orbit, and press F1?
