Lost Skillbook

I tried to start researching the Astrometrics skill upon gaining the book from Ketandia Iosos from the exploration training section, but forgot that I was researching something else at the same time. It came up with a pop up saying "Do you want to cancel the other action" or something to that effect, and when I clicked no, the Astrometrics skill disappeared from my inventory
Is this meant to happen?
Thanks for the help :D

It's sitting in your 'known skills' list with a level of 0. So, you know the skill, but you don't have it trained at all yet. Just look in the Navigation section of your skills and you'll see it.

Also, for future reference, skills where you have consumed the skill book but are still at level 0 are referred to as 'injected'. And now you know.

Astrometrics is in Science.

Good info from mxzf and Mallak. A word of caution on injecting skills, though: they will not inject if you don't have their prerequisites, even if the last prerequisite is about to finish training. In this case, to not waste training time, I recommend putting up a "buffer" skill to catch the extra SP in once the one you're training is done, and then inject and train the skill that needed prerequisites next time you log on.

E.g. If I have 5 hours left on Small Projectile Turret V, I can't inject Small Autocannon Specialization until it's finished. It will be 10 hours until I get home, and I don't want to waste 5 hours of training. Therefore, I can put Minmatar Frigate V at the end of the queue, and let it catch those extra 5 hours while I'm away. Once I get back, I inject Small Autocannon Specialization and start training it, leaving Minmatar Frigate V incomplete (but slightly shorter).

Doh. For some reason I thought it said Acceleration Control. My bad. Astrometrics is, indeed, in Science.

In other words: Always keep your skill queue as full as possible. Always!
