I have recently purchased a Loki, and piecing together all the subsystems, rigs, equipment etc it just doesn't seem the ship I was looking for.

So what really is a Loki good for? What can I turn my Loki into, without loosing ISK. I tried turning it into a active shield tank, but I had people yell at me about how stupid it was for me to attempt that. I am not looking into PVP wise. Any thoughts, or advice would be very much appericated.

You can PVE with a good Loki if you have very good skills but imho it's a much better pvp ship. Just an opinion and some questions you need to ask yourself before trying to do something with a ship you can barely use or badly using.

Alright, I'm still confused. You don't want to PvP in it. That's fine. You want to shield tank it. That's also fine, despite what others have apparently led you to believe.

Will do every level 4 easily in Minmatar space that I encountered. (Only difficulty will be one of the waves in Angel Blockade). Orbit the BS at 5-9km, F1 frigs/cruisers/bc's/bs's. 545 dps without drones (enough bay for two sets of lights), 626 with faction ammo. 878m/s and 135m sig, use transversal, the meagre shield regen and the buffer to tank all the damage. You can faction the rest of the mids if you want, but it doesn't really make much difference. 25km web is fine for lvl4's and the sig decrease isn't significant enough from the rep fleet extenders. Can change the engineering sub to one of the cap ones if you have max grid skills AND Projectile Rigging V, doesn't really matter though because it's stable anyways. Carry some of the higher tracking ammo just in case, shouldn't need it really.

Can make it a cheaper by using just T2 TE's and T1 rigs.

Err ... who told you, and did they give a reason?

There's no shame in flying a few lv3 missions to get the feel of a new ship. And of course an active shield tank is a viable option for PvE.

Loki is actually amazing at popping pve frigates with the web range sub. After that you're going to yo yo around the place trying to pop the bigger ships.
