EVE subscriber numbers peaked just above 400k in 2014 and crossed the 150k mark by the end of the decade.
Several attempts to "revive" EVE with special promotions etc failed and after a marketing study (which concluded that a market for EVE-like MMOs does not exist) had put any discussions about EVE 2 to an early end, Sony sold the game to some European media group in early 2019.

The new operator ran the game in pure maintenance mode for another three years (subscriptions had stabilized at ~120k) before filing for bankruptcy (because of heavy losses in other business fields, most notably TV).
The court appointed interim administrator managed to save most of the enterprise with an aggressive restructuring program which EVE fell victim to.

The servers were shut down in May 2023, attempts by former players to acquire the EVE IP via crowd-funding failed on the resistance of Sony (IP ownership was still split between ex-CCP employees and Sony).

I'm sorry to tell you but in 2032 EVE has been dead for good for almost a decade and very few gamers remember that it ever existed.

(On the upside you just have to survive another 28 years before time travel becomes available and you can play any "classic" MMO at the height of its success - how cool is that?!)

Roll that back 20 years and replace "EvE" with "SWG" and you've got a true story. Sad

So many great ideas... but why wait til 2019 for the Terran invasion? That would certainly put a spin on hi-sec :)

Try Harder.

Well I'm not sure about EVE but I just finished watching World President Richard Nixon's Head's speech about how we need to crush the invading alien forces.

Oh btw everyone wears those outfits from Tron.

Here in 2032 CQ doors are still closed, and Goonswarm is CCP.

Time travel creates parallel realities - that's why there is no paradoxical conflict. When someone left 2032 to come to 2012, their reality in 2032 is unchanged by their actions in 2012 because the reality that they are in in 2012 is a splinter of the original. That's the only way time travel could work.

Anyway, to answer your question, in 2032 shuttles are OPed because of the Thermo-Destructo rays that that only they can fit. Everyone PVPs with shuttles - except the Mins, who still use boxes with duct tape and rock launchers. So invest heavily in shuttles.

Here in 2032 I can play EVE using my Wii Fit balance board. Well actually it's more of a balance pod.

Well CCP started talking about it in 2015 at fanfest and got everyone really excited, there was some storyline stuff, and then nothing happened with it for like, ages. We all thought it was just vapourware, then one day, out of the blue 2.3 gig patch comes along. No warning, no accompanying patch notes, just the patch. And then there were terrans. I'm pretty sure that I remember soundwave saying something like, "And that my spacefriends, is how you troll in eve'

Your brain will be directly, permanently connected to Eve while your body sits in stasis. Every once in a while you will log into 21st century Earth for entertainment.
