I dunno about that. When I'm in a Rattlesnake with 5 drone groups in my bay, I'm happy to have a nice big window.

ditto, just might be nice to be able to drag the group over to one of the buttons, press it and they launch, press it again and they attack. and then have a separate recall drone button.

Interesting thread, what do you guys see in common to all of your different set ups?

Answer: A wonderful spaceship game with graphics absolutely incredible behind a screen polluted at at least 75% with stupid excell windows.

What a waste!

Disclaimer: Mine's not much better because like you I don't have the choice, but I do limit my screen number of windows and send deep in devils arses hole half of them. That's why I'm so bad at pvp, I actually try to play a spaceship game instead of Excell On Line with space in the background.

I see the data I need to make split-second tactical decisions presented in a clear, concise way, and my performance hindered by the game rendering 3D models that give me zero additional information. If I could completely turn off ship models and only keep the brackets, I would do so.

My UI isn't anywhere near 75%.
I'm a minimalist at heart, what can I say. I do have critical windows like the directional scan hotkeyed, though, and have it opening and closing rather frequently.

There have to be better ways to do it than to have a clutter-inducing drop down menu in a window...

Targets go to top between the modules and the selected item box, it has just enough room to fit 10 targets. The People & Places/Notepad/Scanner window also has the ships cargohold as well as the world map control panel opening there when needed. Despite the windows taking up a large portion of the screen estate, I still have plenty of space for manual piloting without ever needing to minimize, resize or remove any of the windows.

The selected item box together with the drones box have also been resized to be exactly the same width as the station services, thus never moving anything out of position or to a spot where they'd overlap. Additionally I have Overwolf overlay between the local chat and system info, giving me info about who's talking on TeamSpeak at any given moment. For the times I use Mumble, it's set up in the exact same spot where it's easily visible but yet doesn't take away from anything possibly more important.

The only thing the screenshot is missing, that I always have open, is my corps mapping tool that's used via the in game browser, I have that on the top left corner minimized when not looking at it, and when open, set to cover the local and people & places boxes. A related annoyance to that, if I'd have it set to reach the main chat window (the one where I keep all non-local chats), minimizing it would bring the chat window up with it and screw up the whole layout (hint at CCP, please add an option to not have other windows affected when minimizing a single window). The main chat window is also intentionally unpinned so I can quickly shuffle the chat tabs to the order I want them to be in, nothing more annoying than accidentally typing out something crucial in the wrong chat just because they're not in the position I'm used to them being (another hint to CCP, let us save the order of tabs).

My UI: http://i48.tinypic.com/161kja.jpg

Fleet window with watchlist below go to the right of local chat.
Targeted ships right above my capacitor/weapon slots. (short distance to click on weapons)
Drones under the overview tab.

Scanner window I bring up when I need it (goes next to local chat)

Your UI is still far too cluttered.

Here's mine. Fleet, Drones, etc all go in the top left.

Can you please tell me how you have your tabs labelled in big coloured text like that on the overview?

Thanks!

HTML in the labels.

Here's an example:

< color=0xFF81D96E >< fontsize=16 >< b >General< /b >< /fontsize >< /color >

Ignore the spaces, these forums don't like HTML. It can be annoying to do, the window you're typing the name into is tiny.

Here's some hex colors. If you aren't familiar with HTML, the 0x symbolizes "the following numbers are in hexadecimal", and you then input a number from that list's Hex column, without the #.

If I understood a word of what you have been kind enough to post, I would use it.

So after most players apparently cover 75% of their View with Text-WIndows to get all the necessary Information's to play the Game properly who in the UI Department gets the proper spanking?Lol

On a side-note, we got like 3 Engine Overhauls and rewrites not the mention all the cool and new effects and no one sees them.Shocked

Please make better use of space on the inventory window right there.

Also, please let me hide the chat part of local so it can be even smaller.

Shift click the cargo space open, that way you wont have the useless first third of that window. You can also change it to simply list the items, that way more items can fit the same amount of space.

Does that preserve between sessions and ships? I fly more than one ship.

You need to open it separately each time you swap ships, but the window will open in the exact same location.
