T2 Strip miners (Requires Mining V)
Mining Crystals (Requires *ore* processing III)
T2 MLU (Requires Mining Upgrades IV)

These will boost your mining yield about as high as it'll go in a retriever. The upgrade from retriever to Mackinaw takes awhile as you need Mining Barge V and Astrogeology V along with the Exhumers skill. (Unless they changed the requirement, correct me if I'm wrong). Since those two skills draw on very different attributes, chances are that one of them is going to take you even longer.

Other, indirect, methods for improving your ISK would be to get yourself perfect refining and trade skills.

Raw ore typically sells for *about* 10% less than the mineral value it refines into (at least it did in more stable markets, with mineral prices flying all over the place these days, that margin might be larger or smaller). Doing your own perfect refining will help you keep profits...

Trade skills, especially Broker Relations and Accounting, help reduce taxes and fees related to sell orders (you ARE using sell orders, right?)

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

Check the prices regularly. They shift as people use different ores.

The isk/m3 is what's important. You'll often see people, in belts, mining Omber. These people are what is known as ignorant. Omber is worth significantly less than more plentiful ore.

Anyway:

There are two ways to sell stuff in Eve (ignoring non-market options).

1: Sell to a buy order. This is a good way of getting quick cash. You'll pay sales tax. However, in most places it's also a good way to make significantly less isk. Buy orders are generally significantly less than the value. Not always the case.
2: Sell using a sell order. This takes more time. You'll pay sales tax, and also a brokers fee. But you can set the price you'll sell at. Be aware, if someone has a lower price set, they'll always sell before you. Regardless of which order a buyer clicks on.

So should I ignore the "price" part?
Such as Veld sells for "16" in rens, I presume thats 16 per ore? isn't that pretty good?

You ignore the price part, because different ores are different volumes, while you always mine the same volume.

So Omber, while worth around 4 times more isk per unit, is 6 times larger per unit. so you'd make 2/3rds the isk.

That chart is based on perfect refining, and selling the resulting minerals at 'sell' prices. But it's a generally good rule of thumb.

Or ... they could be mining the Omber for the Isogen because they need the mineral to build items. Blink

Could be.

Though they'd do better, generally, to mine veldspar, sell the trit, and buy the Isogen (ending up with more isk)

I have a nice bunch of movies to watch so s'all good. And I have problems finding a pvp corp that actually goes out and gets kills and ISK.. Mining is my only option right now.

You can enjoy the game from day 1. I don't know why you think you need billions to have fun?

Doing missions over and over again isn't what I'd call fun.
I can't afford any of the PVP ***** I'd like to fly. And I didn't say billions did I?
