The future of establishments and full body avatar movement will be covered in an upcoming Dev Blog. Unfortunately I do not know the contents or when it will be published but I do know that it is in the works and being prepared.

Thanks, Navigator. I appreciate the input - although, to be honest, (personally) I'm in no rush to see either of those two things, at all -- I'm more than happy to wait 'til they're properly ready... The last thing I want from that is some 'rush-job'.

What I *do* want, as soon as possible really, is a proper 'Decanting/Pod room' to replace the stepladder nonsense we have just now. The art assets already exist, that's a given --- I'd just love a Dev to say either "yeah, we'll get that done," or "screw you, forget it."

"Full body avatar movement". What does that mean? Being able to do more than walk and sit?

And I hope we get some word of when we get multi-player environments of some sort, even if its just a corp common area.

As I understand the term 'full-body', I think this means that instead of just being able to walk around, we'll get some kind of 'emote' system that alllows a greater degree of expression.

I can't get rid of my darn signature!  Oh, wait....

You are talking about something we have no idea what it is, and yet you say you have no knowlodge of the contents of said blog? xD

I think he was just trying to be specific. Some people would consider the picture beside your post as an "Avatar", as opposed to the fully modeled and somewhat mobile Smile full bodied avatars we have in Incarna.

I would like to see something more substantial than the current opened pod down a flight of stairs I can't use. Putting the room down there might be good, assuming that the Incarna engine can handle multiple levels ofc.

I think asking the incarna engine to compete with the 1992 Doom engine is a bit much.

I was thinking more of Knights Of The Old Republic, the engine was true 3D but all of the environments were on one level, you would never walk beneath a bridge that another character was stood on. You could walk up and down ramps but they would never lead you top cross over another part of the map. Why it was that way, I dunno. Guessing it suited their combat game design.

What little we have seen on Incarna so far follows the same principle. I'm guessing the engine could do it, but there might be a design constraint. Or maybe, just maybe, I'm reading far too much into far too little. P

Doom on the other hand faked 3D, it wasn't possible to walk under something at all.

By the way...am I the only one who is a little puzzled that there are absolutely no restrooms in the CQ?

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

It's a technical limitation, mostly; Neverwinter Nights was the same way. An AI usually casts a straight line from itself to its destination, and then the pathfinding routine has to make a number of calculations: 'Can I get there? If I am going there, what's the most efficient route? Can I actually get there using the most efficient route? If there's no way to get there using the most efficient route, is there another, less-efficient path?'

The end result is that the AI stands a chance of getting 'hung up' -- witness the Drizzt NPC from the original Baldur's Gate game. it calculated its route on a 2D plane using the smallest number of pathing 'nodes', based on efficiency. The result: in the release copy, Drizzt would move through his first few pathing nodes and then get stuck because the next node was blocked by an impassible lake and the pathfinding routine couldn't find a way to get there.

/geek mode off.

This has already been addressed by the Devs. Go anywhere, the nanites clean it up.
