Theres corpses all over new eden, theres a biology skill, theres hacking skills, we have implants in killmails it's my belief it's time that we bring these features all together....

I wont figure out the exact requirements but believe it should be a high one on the level of say salvaging sleeper BS + t3 production, to be able to scoop and process corpses to get our intact/damage implants etc from the corpse based on skills theres a random chance to recover a implant that that corpse died with, you need Surgury Bioscanning to check if the corpse has any implants and Neutral Surgury to be able to recover any survived implants...

IMAGINE the possibilties an entirely new profession for those that want more advanced salvaging...

If this would not be done because of making pod killing more prominent make highsec pod deaths yeild extremely low or something.

A quick search reveals these [1] [2] I know they're locked, but that's because they haven't received enough attention from reviewers, which will probably happen to this thread as well.

If you're gonna post here thinking your idea is the greatest thing since bacon and that it will save EVE and possibly all humankind with it, you're gonna have a bad time.

Yet another crappy idea promoting blobbing and ganking over good fights?

No, thanks.

Oh, wait - it's not even a new one.

We can't even remove our own implants without destroying them, so why give some stranger a chance to do so, without compromise on this this idea's pretty much going to be ignored. Not to mention the fact that implants are also isk sinks which actually help the eve economies stability.

Getting implants from corpses is a very common topic.

"Mortuary Ships" have in been the drawing board for years. Devs had it in EON #4, I beleive. It would be able to "keep them fresh" so that implants and even bookmarks could be extracted. All chance and skill based of course.

...

The problem is that implants are a significant ISK/LP sink in the game. Right now, there are not enough of those. As such, it currently is a bad idea.

It can be both salvaged and kept as an ISK sink, I believe.

Have the successful examination generate a BPC instead of a functioning item.
(Number of runs based on balance, I would expect a single run)

Because they're not trying to remove the implant. They're trying to scrape the brain and blood off it.

BPC for implants + "damaged [whatever] implant" that is removed = LG pirate implant?

Remove "LG" implants from drops/LP stores, replace with "high grade" (i.e. +4 implants). Standard ones stay the same...

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Because they're not trying to remove the implant. They're trying to scrape the brain and blood off it.

The thing is, you can easily accept losing a clone (same effect as getting podded and thus having the clone reactivated, paying like 10-40 mil for it) if you really want to remove implants and thus receive much greater benefits isk-wise (can be anything up to several bil).

And by all means conducting such an operation within medical facility and under a perfect, non-damaged clone should result in much better success chance than salvaging a pile of crap which was first fried and then frozen.

But it's just the very idea of having implants removable is bad rather than anything else.

There was talk about BPOs for implants from CCP ages ago. They want as much as possible to be player made. I don't think this is going to happen.

Fact is implants and rigs are lost once used. That means the people will endlessly ask for ways to get them back.

This would be a big change that adds nothing and reduces an ISK sink. Ppl would kill and salvage themselves to mitigate the cost of new implants. People would gank at random to get implants, forcing players to use them less. With the change in the kill mail system, it would make people into targets, forcing them to use no or lesser implants whenever undocked. This would mean lesser and less total implant purchases. Decreased demand and increased supply would lower the value of the implants, making them less lucrative to cash in LP for. Combined with speculator meddling, the implant market could destablize and crash, taking the ISK sink with it.

Furthermore, salvaging should result in a material, not a finished product or a BPC.
