Fixing ecm

Ship stat changes
1) Boost the sensor strength of all ships except for logi and recons by about 20%
1a) Boost the sensor strength of interceptors massively (like 100%)
1b) Reduce the sensor strength of logi and recons. I think the purpose of ECM should be a to be good counter to gangs that are logi and recon heavy. (Reduce them to about 65% of current sensor strength)
2) Reduce the scan res and lock range of all ecm ships by about 30% (griffin, blackbird, kitsune, falcon, rook, scorpion, tengu with the ecm electronics subsystem). The griffin right now can target about the same range as battlecruisers.

ECM Mechanic/Module changes
1) Reduce the range of ECM
2) Increase the cap use of ECM
3) Make ECCM reduce jam duration, not only jam probability. Mid slot should reduce it by a small amount (but give a large boost to sensor strength). Low slot eccm should reduce it by a lot (but keep the smaller boost to sensor strength it has now)
4) Role bonus on all frigate and a smaller bonus on all non-recon non-logi cruiser hulls that reduces jam duration. Or make jam duration proportional to ship class/size.
5) Reduce the strength of off racials on racial jams.
6) Drastically reduce the jam strength of ecm drones. Because of the way they stack, they are ridiculously too strong. Im talking like mediums having the jam strength of light drones.


Skill Changes
1) Add a x2 or x3 skill that gives +5% sensor strength/level.


What does this do?

1) ECM ships are now forced to be a little closer, and put a little more thought into who they want to jam.
2) ECM is a better counter vs a gang with many logi, and not very good counter to groups of 3 bcs and a rifter.
3) ECM ships are also more vulnerable to being countered by other recons, while simultaneously being able to counter other recons better.
4) Particularly in small gang/1v1 frigate fights, fitting a racial ecm doesnt mean you almost certainly win.

I love all these ideas, but this one in particular. People can skill to make ECM more effective... can haz skill that helps counter it plz?

Few things are more irritating than having a single griffin or flight of EC-300s landing 3 or 4 successive jam cycles on me in a fight, in spite of the LG Jackals that I use in my clones anymore.

another possible idea is to have sensor boosting drones that can be used on others/yourself.

I dont like the big nerf to logi sensor strength. I like the rest.

I actually think that most of the problem is with ECCM, not ECM itself.

If there were ways for me to get ECCM effects on my ship without "wasting" that slot I would be a lot happier. As it stands, you are stuck in an all or nothing choice when it comes to ECM, having a middle way would fix a lot of the issues people are having without destroying or drastically altering what may well be the only really effective form of electronic warfare we have.

A shield/armor mod with a 70% ECCM effect, please.
Maybe something that does a combo Sensor Booster/ECCM combo at 70% the specialty mod's effectiveness.

Don't need to fix what isn't broken. ECM as a whole is just fine.

Although I do think that ECM drones need some looking at.
