Funny, I find that those who gank or Neutral RR are carebears. So between our two definitions, pretty much the entire population within New Eden. Cool.

If you need a deeper explanation of what is a carebear its not that simple. Best way to put it is to show differences between carebears and everybody else:

EX 1.)

Non carebears go like this:

Rifter ---> wolf --> dictor ---> hac ---> ??? ----> suicide brutix ---> arti tyfoon....

Carebears go like this:

Retriver ---> hulk ---> orca ---> transport ships ---> freighter --- JF ----> Super cap....

As you can see "a carebear ships" never costs less then 200 mill.... maybe at some/early stages it costs less but its totaly cool if you have 2 faction mods on it at all times.

Don't forget about blockade runners in the carebear progression of ships. Sliding past a pack of gate campers is a pretty good rush.

The whole carebear thingy is old and outdated. I prefer the term "whiners" and "mad" instead. Those people are way more interesting than a Carebear will ever get.

One of the reason that the Mad and Whining people are so interesting is that you never know where they will pop up. You can wardecc a 0.0 alliance and get a convo from a Whiner. Just like that he appears and complain about our little wardecc because it somehow dident fit into his plans.

The mad people, the ones that fills local with manly talk and then melts like icecream when you finally close your trap. They are my favourite. They are the ones that send mails about how they are gonna send a hailstorm of revenge upon you. I like those. I call them my special snowflakes.

And then you can infiltrate a mining corp and kill the ceo's Orca, expecting to get carebear tears flowing into your coffins, but you get nothing. Cry

The easiest definition I've seen is - any character who participates in activities in the game that does not involve shooting other players to make ISK - at any time.

By that definition - pretty close to every player in EVE is a carebear at one time or another across their career.

"don't rat in nullsec you carebear" "sleepers? try other players you carebear" "all miners are carebears" yada... yada...

Amazingly - the bulk of those who call others carebears have alts that do this for them or find ways to make isk that has virtually zero risk to themselves (passive income, moon goo harvesting, etc...)

It's not about how you make your ISK but what you do with that ISK afterwards.
Accumulate it and pimp your PVE pinata, or buy some ships and sink them in pretty explosions with your fellow co-players.

Opinion there - the quotes I put in you can find across these forums - from CAOD through general chat.

The word is virtually meaningless when used so broadly in this game and the use is the definition these days or we wouldn't language filter many words with dictionary definitions on forums.

A person/player who dies by his own or other persons demise.... then posts killmail on battleclinic... reads how many plexes he needs to cover the loss then goes to stor/paypals the amount of plexes and undocks again.

That is rather simple Bear

I didn't... you have transport ships listed.... some prefer the blockade runners some prefer the deep transports. Depends on your gangsta style and the amount of pimp you can put on it. A badger with t2 rigs is always better then a Bustard with t1s
