How to catch a kitten

Update!

Just got back. So we put some food out leading in a trail to the food filled cat carrier. The wee cat emerged almost right away and after a few sniffs got right in amongst the delicious (but utterly disgusting) food that Affinity had got for him. He did not take the carrier bait, but looked at us a lot so we felt we were earning his trust. Then some friends popped down to see how we were getting on, and we saw a cat face emerge again. Except, what a minute, this cat was much much larger than the other cat. ITS A CAT FAMILY LIVING IN THE ROCKS! BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!

(Confirming Affinity and I were close to stealing some cat's baby)

... but I wanted a kitten :( This is the worst day ever!

Also, the mother cat looked really really mad. Goliath and I rock climbed, covered ourselves in cat food and tuna, stood talking to rocks, tried to think of cunning plans and I fell on the rocks.. to save a cat that didn't need to be saved. GO TEAM!!!

If you are still looking at getting the kitten then just keep up the process with the carrier. Animals are more cunning than many people think. If you leave the carrier out with some food in it the kitten will eventually take the chance. Once you gain a little more trust you can sit within 10' after putting food in and once he steps in stand up quietly and walk on over slowly.

Accomplish this and we'll upgrade you to cougars.

Well the kittens are most likely feeding off momma cat but she needs enough food to sustain herself while making milk for the kittens. If the kittens are extremely skinny it's probably a good sign that they are all malnourished. Rescue them all!

They've been weaned for sure, and none of the family looked in bad shape.

I don't know about Iceland but in the states they're just as bad without being taken in because the authorities pick up wild strays. And that doesn't always end well (not to say always bad).

Either way, guess you can feed all the kittehs now ;)

Maybe you need to get in contact with a local animal/cat rescue organisation. They should be able to catch all the kitties, get them checked out by a vet (and get them the little operations) and then organise proper homes for them (including one or more to you).

This one might be promising?

I got my kitten and his mummy from a similar sounding place here in Australia.

Hopefully this kitty saving wraps up soon. Or heaven forbid what could come next.

Just put a projector up with you guys playing Hello Kitty online, to attract the cats out. Just keep playing the game all night, till the cats wear out and fall asleep, then pick them up and put them in the cages.

the biggest problem for seaside kitties is the issue of fresh water. Most water around the ocean is tainted with salt which makes it almost as bad as sea water itself. If you cant take the cats home (please get them fixed anyways) at least supply them with some fresh water.
