Are Mining missions worth doing? Or are you still better off, y'know, just mining "real" ore?

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

I think there is potential for good (if not greater) profit in mining missions. You not only get the ore, but you also get bonuses and LP. You're also a little safer when mining in a mission because the ganker actually has to put in the effort to scan you down, instead of just flying to the nearest belt.

In that situation I'd feel a lot more comfortable fitting for max yield, as long as I'm not AFK of course.

Mining missions < Death by 10,000 paper cuts

Mining missions = Ice mining

I am not sure where I was going with this response suffice to say I would choose the paper cuts. And I am a big ol Carebear.

If the question is "are mining missions worth doing?" the answer is always No. Smile

Maybe you should find out. You know, by trying them.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

I can only do Lv2 missions right now. I'd rather not waste my time grinding a whole new Corporation just to find out Lv4 Mining Missions are a waste of time, you know.

There was a good mission where you could mine at the start of it. I think they changed it so it only had veld.

It is safer to mine mission fields.

The Retriever and Procurer are good for Missions of the mining type (as opposed to mining ore found in security missions).
In fact for a little more push, the Procurer can be fit with a 1mn MWD. For level 1 mining missions it scoots around decently,a nd has more than enough ore hold for the crap mission ore you have to mine.

For mining the standard ore found in security missions, it depends on how much work you want to do as to which ship works best. Though there are some mission locations which are not friendly to mining barges (specifically). I had a mission I had finished up, brought in my Noctis, mopped up all the loot and salvage, warped out, came back in a Hulk, and nearly lost it because the mission beacon is programmed to attack mining vessels. Combat log stated specifically that the "Beacon" was doing the damage. No other NPC's or ships in the area (otherwise my Noctis would have been hit).

The ore hold is what really really made a difference. I got sick of mining missions because you'd always have to make multiple trips with one or more ships, or spend an ungodly amount of time mining from an industrial.

I've been using the procurer. The ore hold was big enough to hold two level 2 ore missions at once, and it's been tanky enough to handle all the level 3's I've come across.

I dind't think of adding a ab or mwd.

Prolly make more money mining then doing mining missions, but I need the standings and LP.

Is anyone else concerned what they're doing with all the augumene they make you mine in the missions?
