Rules of alliance tournaments?

Have heard all over about these events. Was wondering if anyone could throw me some info??

Is it just "whatever corp A can field VS whatever corp B can field" or are there stricter rules regarding number of pilots fielded or group point total or something?

Are there different event catagories or is it all just one pyramid tourny with a winner at the top?

There are strict rules about what each team can field, but they change each tournament.

Check the Alliance tournament subsection of the forums for more info.

The Alliance Tournament rules change every year. For instance, the rules for Alliance Tournament IX held in June 2011 can be found here.

You are welcome to check the Alliance Tournament playlists on Youtube for the recordings of the matches and the studio commentary.

Each team has a budget of points that they can spend on ships, each eligible ship class has a point value assigned to it.

There are also rules on RR and how many of each ship you are allowed to bring.

Fittings are regulated - faction ammo is allowed but faction modules are usually not (exception flagships).

But the rules are revised between each AT installment and viable tactics can differ a lot because of these changes.

The rules don't really matter. Fix the tournament with the other participants and win that way.
