Water Lilies: Romance you can feel

This is one of my favorite movies of all time and it's my favorite romance movie. I normally am not into romantic films unless I can associate with one of the people involved in said romance. In this film I felt a deep connection with Marie. Like me she falls for all the wrong people but unlike me this movie actually has a happy ending.

Reviews

Marie is like me in many ways, when she fixates on somebody she is attracted to she does so obsessively and rapidly becomes infatuated with the person. Her entire world centers itself around the object of desire but she unfortunately finds that the other people are just as damaged as she is if not more so by the hardships of growing up.

The acting in this film is top tier and will far surpass most American acting, the movie might be slow for people who are used to explosions and action but it ultimately plays to the films advantage by providing a realistic experience. You are given pauses to really feel out what the characters are feeling. This movie is great for psychology majors specializing in behavior as well as anybody with a keen eye for the subtle moments that make this film truly special.

What you are implying is rather nasty. I would point out again that this film is just as much a psychological think piece as it is a french romance. The characters are deeps and meaningful. Anybody who has ever had an obsession of a crush should be able to connect with Marie on some basic level. The character of Marie is designed that way, designed so that the audience can sympathize with her struggles.

My bad, I didn't realize you had a dislike for kleenex when you're doing your thing while watching foreign films about little girls in love.

Does making sexual jokes about children make you feel strong? Important? Cool?
If this is how you get attention, I assure you better ways do exist.

I don't really know any sexual jokes about children so I can't answer that for you. I'm not sure if you were asking that because you thought we could compare feelings or whatever it is that you do when watching this stuff. I'm more of a action man myself, you know, guns , explosions, slo-mo's of ladies over the age of 18, that kind of stuff.

Also I'm not much for attention but I think if I wanted it I would probably do something like walk into the food court at the mall and yell 'hey everybody, look at me" at the top of my lungs.

You are just going to pretend to not have made the comment that you are quoting? Ok...

Why would I pretend to not have made a comment, I mean it's right there, I wrote it. And why are you doing the 2/10 meme with me, I find that rather disturbing and disgusting at the same time.

Yeah, I'm not feeling romantic anything with a 15 year old girl... maybe in my first year of highschool but I've grown up since then

I am not sure if you are trolling or you actually do not understand. There are romance movies about aliens, does that mean you have to be from space to feel a connection with the characters?
No.

Do you have to be a 15 year old girl to feel a connection with Marie?
No.

When your space ship in EVE gets blown up, do you need to be part spaceship in real life to feel a lose?
No.

Can you both do better at trying to troll/derail my thread?
Yes.

We're not derailing anything, the discussion has been about your creepy connection with 15 year old girls in foreign movies. You're the one who made the thread to discuss the 'romance' of the film.

The basic rule is half your age + 7 years

*Edit: Also I'm assuming by alien romance you mean Avatar... those were consenting adults so that's different

Maybe he means Natasha Henstridge, but again she was quite the adult in Species.

Oh hell yes, I preferred her with shorter hair in species 2. Though that movie was a major letdown otherwise

You are all assuming the connection is romantic in nature. I never said it was. Read some of the other people reviewing the film. It is not uncommon to feel a sympathetic connection with somebody who is going through hardships you have also gone through. I know what it is like to be manipulated by broken women.

Romantic isn't exactly the word we're using here.

I see...
Once again you are making assumptions. Rather inappropriate and crude assumptions at that. You need to come up with a new act because this one is stale.
