Nice to see CCP, finally the Barges got some love, hisec miners (I ain't one btw) can enjoy their hobby once more and are coming back .

Keep up the good work hisec miners, don't let Goons monopolize Eve.

You should thank Goons for their actions showing how silly mining barges and ganking those was. They made a point and actually helped those changes more than everyone, if you can't actually see the picture then look at it deeply Blink

Heck a good number of Goons were very much in favor of a barge buff.


I for one love em, though probably still won't mine when I can avoid it.

mining needed a buff.

Its dull it SHOULD make good money with some safty attached.

We need mins, not lvl 4 runners.

While I don't think the barge changes were optimal, I think that the end result is fine. I'm completely fine with a high-EHP barge variant, as long as there exists another variant that is much less safe, but has a much higher yield (the Hulk). If miners are forced to make a choice between high defense and high yield, then balance exists. Personally, I would have equalized the Mackinaw's and Hulk's EHPs, giving them the same capacity for a buffer of about 35,000 health, fully-fit. But that's not a big deal.

Many don't seem to have realised it yet but the barge changes may well kill ice prices.

CCP turned ice mining into a near fully afk activity, all thanks to the 35k m3 ore hold of the mackinkaw. Ice prices may drop to their lowest ever, and the only people mining it will be doing so mainly afk with many alts, and for the average player it will be a worthless income.

How is that a buff for mining? It's a massive nerf. They've turned it into a big joke to be done semi afk with many alts.

It is not, can you provide verifiable numbers your statement is based on?
Yes some prices might as well drop a little, but mining barges are not invulnerable, you can still gank them. Then if Ice is over mined whatever, you can always mine other interesting stuff.
There are also other lucrative activities in Eve other than mining ice, give it a try.

I wish I had these mineral prices when I first started. Back in my day, trit. was 4.5 and slowly went down.
I think half/most the reason for the high prices is the Goons. Just saying the prices of minerals these days is a fairly good encouragement for people to mine instead of mission.
Missions are a lot safer to do though. If I could tank my mining barge to the same amount as my mission battleship, I'd probably be mining all the time instead of running missions.

There was plenty of safety in mining, if you weren't an AFK Botting moron fitting no tank and max yield in a ship designed for group nullsec mining.

Unfortunately, CCP gave in to the AFK Botting Moron Menace.
