firstly, i heard something about needing 8 standing with a faction so i can have pvp jumpclones? if someone could give me a semi detailed explination of how i can do this so that i can pvp without losing my +3 implants that would be great!

secondly, i skilled hurricane for PvP (welp fit) and im working on being able to optimize it, my question is for PVE (plexing, anomalys, wormholes, belt ratting, etc etc) should i refocus to Caldari ships? perhaps get a drake asap to pve in, and aim for the Caldari battleship for L4's and perhaps leading onto a tengu? opinions very welcome, thanks!

tldr second paragraph: how should i go about getting into L4 missions and the other high end isk making options regarding ship choice

You can use Estel Arador Corp Services to get jump clones, apparently a lot of people do.

Also, I guess it depends on the kind of PvP that you intend to do, but usually you should be able to get your pod out - just start spamming the warp button shortly before your ships dies, with a little luck you should be nicely aligned and start warping almost immediately once you're in your pod.

cheers

There are several corps in EvE that offer the ability to set a couple of jumpclones, like the one darmwand (which is a fun name if you are Dutch) mentioned. Train up the infomorph skill to be able to set the JC, join them, set your JC and leave again.

If you don't want to do this, you can grind missions for a NPC corp (which has got station with Medical Bay) and get their standing to 8.0 and you will be able to set a JC in their station (and fly it out after that). This however can take a lot of time.
* the 8.0 standing counts for NPC corps, not factions, so for instance Caldari Navy not the Caldari state*

Another way is to get to know people who have a Rorqual or Titan with a Clone Vat Bay in their fit and use that to set your JC, or even join a null-sec alliance and set a JC in one of their outpost (the latter one will be hard for new players as null-sec alliance are paranoid if it comes to new players, every new player is a spy in their eyes untill proven otherwise).

The last possible option, also can be kind of tricky is to fly to the outpost on one of the most known pilots across eve, Chribba (hail to the Veldspar king). He owns an outpost and all players in EvE are allowed to use the services in that outpost.

On fits, sorry not the best PvP or PvE guy to help you as my main profession is and always will be Industry and Trade.

Darmwand, I love that name!

Getting into level 4 missions will require you gain high enough standings to the corporation you want to run missions for. This guide on standings will provide you with more relevant information Smile

There are other corps out there that can help you with jump clones. All that is needed is a Rorqual with clone vats. I know of several corporations (not mine) that have this capability. Shoot me an in game mail if you would like to contact the one I work with most often.

The Drake is an amazing mission ship. Train for that if you want to do a lot of PVE. Wormholes can sometimes be done with a Drake, or a BS but in a lot of cases you will need to fly with a well rounded group.

A lot of people go caldari for pvp because they are equally effective againts all npc types due to missles coming in all types. And face it missles are just stupid easy to use compared to guns, however easier does not always mean more effective and gun boats will often out perform missles if you are willing to deal with more variables.

Another thing to consider is that the only role that caldari are best at when it comes to pvp is ECM. So if you plan on doing pvp in the near future you may want to look at what pvp ships you want to fly and possibly let that influence your pve choices as the skills will carry over

Something you may want to consider is that if you skill Caldari, you may discover that you have caused yourself a problem for the future of your character.

Caldari seem like a good choice at first, but as soon as you get higher SP you will discover you wished it was in other ships. you can mission in a Hurricane perfectly well, dont be tempted by the easy mode Drake. the thing is that skilling for the hurricane will get you a more useful skill set for later on, whereas caldari ships and their support skills are somewhat of a dead end that takes a lot of training time to make up.
