i got the idea when i was mining around and had time to do something else.
i thought that it would be great to be able to have a feature to add your personal video's and have an in game player for it.
to look at series and or maybe even a tv channel.
also it would be great to watch youtube in the in game browser.

YouTube and flash in general was disabled because there are to many exploits and ccp doesn't want account security risked

im far too lazy to go find the actual quote but I'm 100% sure tha i read CCP talking about implementing an ingame video recorder for fleet battles that would let you not only rewatch the battle but also move the camera around in a 3rd person manner so you can look at part of the engagement that you might have missed during the heat of the moment.

don't quote me but think it is going to be implemented in the winter expansion.

also letting you watch it ont he ingame browser seems unnecessary when they could allow you to upload the vids to eve gate and then just watch it in your normal internet browser. L2Alt+Tab

if it was my game, I wouldn't make Flash available either because of the risk potential.

Given that earlier this year I had to deal with a Java exploit that resulted in some nasty damage to my registry (making it impossible to run executables normally until i could fix the registry which, under most circumstances, required me running an executable...) in the process of installing some piece of maladware I have to agree with keeping Flash, and Java, support unimplemented/disabled for security purposes. It'd be nice to not have to copy/paste YouTube links to external browsers, but I'll take that hassle over other stuff that could happen.

Agree with staying away from flash, plenty of good reasons to do so.

How about HTML5 though?

Also, whilst at it, how about making the ingame browser operate like most popular browsers and be able to open tabs in background with middleclick?

At the very least, give us the ability to open links in an external browser, so that when someone links a video we don't have to copy/paste just because the in-game browser is terrible.

As for watching videos in game: just get VLC media player and set it for "always on top". Then you can control the game while watching a video. I do it all the time.
