Lackluster laser animations

Looking at peoples videos on youtube, their laser beam animations have a very big glow around them.

However, in my client, the laser beams are just thin colored lines.

I'm running with settings optimized for quality and I can't for the life of me figure out why my laser beam animations look so measly compared to the ones in the video. Any ideas?

I assume this has to do with bloom effects as I've found some older threads discussing such a setting, but I can't find any bloom setting in the graphics options. Im at a complete loss.
