Region and Constellation channels keep closing

Is there any way to open the Region and Constellation chat channels automatically? They keep closing for me when I change region or constellation!

They could be really useful - imagine, you're ganked at a gate, you could tell everyone in the region to avoid that gate, or to go get the pathetic gankers who are camped there!
