Factory Manager - thing that ticks me off about eve the most

for the love of everything holy, why is it that 'factory manager' controls not only starting a job, but cancelling a job and even finishing a job...plus it controls both lab and manufacturing.

I think the most important suggest i can make, and which takes hopefully the least coding, is to have 'start' a job separate from all the rest. please god let starting a job (lab or manufacturing) using corp blueprints not require the all powerful and grief prone 'factory manager'

make it junior manager. i dunno. FFS this isn't a pie in the sky idea...it's desperately needed by people at least TRYING to open up their corporate assets for use without massive loopholes for griefing.

okay, so you give a n00b [title management] view only of the 'other hangars' divisions 2-7 and allow them also 'take' ability for division 1.
place locked down BPOs (at the research offices) or blueprint copies (at the manufacturing offices) in divisions 2-7
allow said n00b to have 'rent factory/lab slot' role.
this should be ALL they should need. if you're going to give someone the role to rent they should be allowed to start jobs.

finishing/cancelling should be controlled, naturally, by 'factory manager'

obviously, CCP being as it is, i'm sure they'd have to code in something like 'junior manager' to stick the 'start' job therein.

*******
footnote: obviously, in the above scenario i wouldn't need to lock down BPOs since the n00bs don't have 'take' access to hangar divisions 2-7 (view access is sufficient to start a job...or at least start a job until you get that "you don't have factory manager" bullshit)

That's a good start, but don't forget that they also need full wallet AND hangar access in addition to the ability to cancel all the jobs willy nilly. It's totally ridiculous.

As a CEO/Director/corporate officer whatever, I should be able to grant someone the ability to use corp blueprints and materials without actually giving them the ability to rob the entire corporation blind. You'd think there'd be a way to say, "You can use the blueprints and the materials for corporation jobs, but you're not allowed to remove everything or take all the moneys. You can set up corp jobs (and cancel the jobs that you yourself set up, no one elses) and that's it.

There are no 50+ member manufacturing corps in EVE for this reason, and it's very sad that the game has gone on this long without this problem being addressed. It really is a really big deal. Can't stress that enough.

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.

1. you don't need 'full' hangar access to the blueprint hangar specifically. just view. i only gave 'full access' to division 1 hangar for the output and input, yes? try it
2. i left out the wallet division because that's easy enough to do like a pre-paid CC. the n00bs would have their own wallet division

do you think that answers the rest of your statement?

By full hangar and wallet access I basically meant exactly what you said. Not necessarily access to every wallet/hangar, but full access to a hangar and wallet that they really wouldn't need to have full access to if it wasn't for the silly system that's been in place for years. Compounded, of course, by the ability to cancel all the jobs. It's just ... terribad.

EDIT: I meant full access as opposed to query access.

EDIT 2: Query access to the appropriate hangar and wallet (like the junior accountant role, but for one wallet only. View rights, but no taking rights) plus a role for installing/canceling their own jobs on behalf of the corp should be all that they need.

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.

well, yes it would be nice to be able to use "based at" to give full access to someone to use the wonderful hangar system on a station they rented using their corp wallet division....sadly, i need 'based at' to limit access to a 2nd HQ location.
