Too many agents and not enough of what makes EVE great in the new player tutorials.

Idea for new player "mission": PvP Training.

Warp to the deadspace "arena." Two rookie ships enter, one rookie ship leaves! (could have different deadspace pockets that only allow ships with certain modules fit ... so ... one for EWar, one for logi, one for raw damage/tank, etc.) Missions are complete on death or victory.

Whether or not you win the game matters not.  It's if you bought it.

I can understand the wish for pvp training, but why won´t you use the test server? It is not the main function of the test server, but for basic explonations it´s quit usefull. After you learned the basics, either you like pvp and better learn the rest in pvp outside of arenas, and if you don´t like it you at least know some basics for defend.

PVP changes faster than agents do. I don't want to be training Newbies how to fight in 2012 when they need to know how to fight in 2014.

If you want to teach someone to pvp, invite them into your corp and teach them. You can't learn pvp from a cpu.

Er ... key words here are "New Player Experience." Currently, almost nothing in the new player experience past the very first tutorial bit is relevant to playing the game beyond missioning. For a social, player-driven game this is very laughable. The whole point of this idea was to make doing stuff with other new players a fundamental part of the new player experience. Not some kind of specific PvP training beyond the basics (ie: don't be afraid to lose your ship to other players, here is how EWar works, here is the difference between a scram and a disruptor, and so on. Nothing more specific than that.)

No one else thinks it's odd that EVE's new player experience revolves solely around agents and rats?

EDIT: Plus I got to slip in a Thunderdome reference. Win!
