Is there a way to have the inventory behave like it used to?

I know some changes were made to the inventory again, but it's still a pain. The absolutely most aggravating thing is when changing between ships, the old ships cargo hold stays pinned. There needs to be an option to have it work the way it used to. One pinnable window for the current active ship, which changes with ship changing and does not move when you loot a container.

When I open something and click loot all, it should go into my cargo and that window should disappear, without moving my pinned ship cargo window.

If there's a way to do this currently and I'm overlooking the setting, please tell me. I do not mean shift clicking all cans, or having to keep a giant ship cargo window so I can browse to "active ship" every damn time I change ships. Thats not an improvement or user friendly in any way.

The are 'working on it' but there is no ETA. The old code is gone and we are at the mercy of CCP to hope that they can fix it.

Some things can be replicated, yes, but you will lose a lot of the automation of the old inventory. Unfortunately, the things you mentioned — the ship cargo and looting — are part of what's lost.

I can't remember seeing any mention of them working on those issues. Maybe some auto-closing will go in at some point, but it's a but unclear what it will encompass.

Do we really need yet another thread about this? It's getting really boring seeing the same arguments and whines repeated endlessly.

It sure is. One rather wishes that the whiners would just accept the fact that the new UI has lost a lot of functionality, whether they use it or not, and that the game would improve a lot of it was restored.

I just can't believe they f'd it up so bad and it has not been fixed/reverted yet.

"The old code is gone."
WTF? Seriously? Did they fire the guy who wrote it?

Maybe its just a load reduction on the server the way the new inventory works and that's why it's being forced on people. I've just now noticed my station hangar running out of space and forcing me to repackage and stack items before I can add anything else to it.

Yet? lol all they broke was the inventory and its not even broken just a huge pain in the ass to use. You should have been here around a year and a half ago when the broke the WHOLE GAME, while "upgrading the servers" That took over 36 hours to fix and that was with the entire community threatening to fly to Iceland and burn down a few buildings to send a message. this is a minor issue with a minor feature in their minds which they are again trying to defend as "improved", I would look for a fix to start being discussed sometime in 2015 and actually implemented about 2 years later.

Yes, that's the CCP way, like removing the hangar view, selling as a top notch feature without(surprise?) noticing that lots of people don't like to stare at a fake door or wait eternity for the prison cell to load.

And now it's the inventory. Removing old proven mechanics, introducing new mind boggingly features which are broken.
Please add a new button like the "Hangar View" one, to travel back in time and find the old inventory.

Odyssey: Repacking in POS hangars for modules +1,  but please for other stuff too, especially containers. Make containers openable in POS hangars.

The old code has probably been archived (if it were me I'd archive it in a landfill somewhere) and will not be used for anything again. It was 9 years old and full of so many revisions, re-writes, additions, spelling errors and bugs of its own, that the cost and effort required to merely maintain it would have been prohibitive. There will always, always, come a point where an old product simply has to be tossed aside and a new one made from scratch.

Throwing a hissy fit over it won't achieve anything.

Or rather wishes that the whiners would accept the fact that the new UI has way more functionality than the old one, whether they can adapt or not, and that the game would improve a lot if they just made the value calculation optional to improve the performance.

I wouldn't so much call that a hissy fit. Lol

Old code probably has been archived, but that doesn't rule out functionality being restored if the devs thought what the players wanted was important. Sadly, this does not seem to be the case. Personally I find trying to sort through my inventories after giving it a fair shake (what's it been, a couple of months now?) is more of a time consuming clickfest - made by someone with a hardon for lists - than an actual improvement.

I'm just sick and fn tired of accidentally dropping crap into hangers I don't have access to, because someone in their infinite wisdom decided it'd be great to include that in the uncustomizable inventory of stone cold failure. Get's even more fun with I've got corp hangers listed for 2 caps that I DO have rights to, and then there's my corps actual hanger hovering just a few scant millimeters away from mine. One sneeze and I'm begging for someone with roles to grab my gear for me.

Or you could simply exercise the option you have always had, to merge the ships and items hanger with your station services so that it even handier than what you were doing before the inventory change.

I know, change is scary... even when it makes most thing easier.
