Do drone nav comps really help heavy drones?

I recently ran across this paragraph from the Eve University wiki Drones page:

Drone Navigation Computer
This module only has one variant named Drone Navigation Computer I and adds +25 N thrust to the deployed drones MWD, allowing it to get the drone into optimal range faster as well as keep up with a moving target. It has a very low powergrid usage and low CPU usage at 30 tf. Since it increases the MWD thrust by a flat amount for all drones, the relative speed increase is much lower for larger drones.

This would seem to imply the drone nav comp is nearly useless for heavy drones. Yet I have read several posts that imply they help heavy drones substantially. Which is correct?

I have also seen some posts that say CCP has changed the way drone nav comps work multiple times. But I can't find any really recent posts that address whether they are less effective with larger drones.

Wouldn't that run the risk of making the drones too fast to hit anything?

Test it for yourself.

You can see your drones stats in the drone window when they're in your drone bay and the ship undocked by hitting "show info". Best of all, you get to see these stats after module effects.

As far as I'm concerned, they help my Ogre II's considerably when I run my Dominix lvl 4 mission boat.

Each module give around 500m/s more velocity to heavy drones

The module only affect their MWD which os turned off when the drone is in range to start attacking...
Should not disturb tracking too much

Thanks for the replies. Consensus seems to be they do substantially help heavies under current rules. If I need more detail I can run some tests.

Overshooting only seems to be a significant problem for light drones, and then only of you use two or more modules. Once they are orbiting a target they turn off their MWD.

You can actually try this in EFT, there is a value on drones called "MWDSPEED" and a t2 nav comp gives a t2 ogre 315m/s extra.

Just as number example let's take some nice values:
If the module give FLAT 15% MWD bonus this would result in:
- light drone normal 2000 m/s -> +300 m/s = 2300 m/s
- med drone normal 1000 m/s -> +150 m/s = 1150 m/s
- heavy drone normal 500 m/s -> +75 m/s = 575 m/s

It is true, that heavy get the lowest MWD bonus in numbers (or m/s).
BUT it is allways 15% ;). So in % it's allways the same.

Ingame a drone nav helps ALOT if you run missions with heavys. Just imagin you face two Gurista BS which are at oposit sides. In this case your drones have to move 100 km (most Gurista BS orbit at ~50km).

For PvP ... does anyone uses heavys for PvP at all? :D.

Why the hell can't I fitt capital repairs or shield booster on an Orca ... it's an CAPITAL ship!
