Here's something to think about. The countries with the highest numbers of atheists also have the lowest rates of crime.

And?

I always found agnostics to be "the easy way out", not being able to stand by what they, or lack thereof, believe.

Why must a person believe something? Most people are socialized into a prepackaged religion with no factual bases.

Not buying what they are selling without a product demonstration is not the easy way out... It is being a smart shopper.
Thor Kerrigan wrote:

Back when people used to think the Earth was flat their beliefs were not less wrong than today's based upon their observations. I think most atheists simply go along this method of thought; don't believe until proven otherwise.

Underlined the part where you called atheists agnostics.

Atheism is the absolute 100% belief that there is no God, non-negotiable he does not exist. Agnostic means one has no faith and would not rather just pretend to know the answer like everyone else claims too. Accepts that there might be a god in a world of infinite possibilities.

The only difference between me and you is that given the information presented so far, I find it more logical to think there is no god. This is because I prefer arguments along the lines of "prove something is" as opposed to "prove something isn't".

Call it however you like, neither of us can be 100% sure of anything and I am well aware of that. Siding towards one side does not automatically make one an extremist.

I have never met an agnostic who deep down does not side towards on one side or the other, a true neutral if you will. I can't judge the validity of your opinions, obviously, but that usually depends on your answers to questions such as "the human purpose" and "morality".

So, then, am I allowed to recruit members to my church of Lord Satan?
Normally games do not allow real life religions but seeing as how EVE seems to differ.......
There seems to be an entire pool of souls to choose.

Now for the important question: who makes the better god, Sovereign or Harbinger?

You guys are gonna get the thread closed by discussing RL religion instead of the cans. Extra LOL points if you get forum-banned while you are at it. It really doesn't matter if you argue in support or against a RL religion because in here, nobody cares about your personal beliefs.

What we do care about is metagaming. can preachers creating trial accounts for the sole purpose of preaching is indeed metagaming. Having an external website to get organized and go preach in other MMOs is metagaming. Recruiting in other MMOs to come and preach here is metagaming.

We also care about the LOL factor. Imagining possible encounters and how they would look. For example, what if a goon and a can preacher where to meet, and wanted to verify their affiliations:

Goon: "Are there stairs in your house?"
Can Preacher: "I am protected.."
Goon: "Great! so how about..."
*Goon gets interrupted*
Can Preacher: "I am protected because the Lord is with me....bla bla bla"
Goon: "Darn.. a can preacher who reads the urban dictionary"

Another thing we care about is game mechanics. How can we blow up some cans if the cans are anchored in high sec by an NPC noob corp pilot. How much damage can the can tank? How many cans can you blow up before concord shows up? What's the cheapest ship/fit that could get the job done? Can an Ibis take care of the cans? What if I'm in the same noob corp?

I tell you... this thread has so much potential, both for game mechanics discussion and for epic LOLs. Don't ruin it.

+1
I love (civil) religious discussions, but keep it out of this potentially amazing thread so it can live the life it deserves.

Why is it more logical to think there is no governing force then admitting you do not know if there is?

Thor Kerrigan wrote:

I don't think most Atheists or Religious people are extremist. Both are unfounded absolutist beliefs and that is fine. That is what faith is and faith in the existence of God governs religious as does faith in the belief that there is no god.

No god is a hypothesis as is the existence of a god. There is no starting point to the data so none of the theories hold anymore weight then the others. We know nothing at all. People seem to be fine with guessing and calling it fact. If you do not call your guesses absolute fact then you are agnostic plain and simple.

You mean the answer to the meaning of life. Humans are clever animals and animals all the same. I was raised on Christian morals and while many of their so called sins I find dated, ostracizing and immoral the basic idea's of not aggressively attacking others or greedily screwing your fellow human beings and being charitable when possible are morals I live by because it creates an ordered society. Sociologically society that is structured to work together grows and prospers.

Make life here good for me, good for those I meet and what happens next, happens next.

OK... moar research!

I haz created alt in the same corp as can preacher (Pator Tech School) and I've traveled to the can's location. This is what happened:

- Approaching Jesus
- Shooting Jesus
- Divine Retribution
- Heretic Wreck
- Back in bussiness

Awaiting aggro timer to go at it again...

Update: 15 minutes later...

First attack ate through the can's shields before concord showed up. Second attack didn't do anything really. Cans are overpowered! Twisted

Awaiting suggestions on what to try next.

Confirming I am Shamless's alt.

Can are overpowered... sec standing @ -2 and can still there. We need either more alts or stronger alts.

Since being in the same corp didn't saved me from the sec standing hit... I'm appliying to Can Preachers of Kador corp. Oh wait:

"You cannot join this corporation as you are Minmatar and this corporation only accepts the following races: Gallente. If the CEO had the skill Ethnic Relations, this would not be a problem."

Shameless, Come on! For the love of the cans, train that skill!

Extremely valuable gas clouds have been discovered in the Pegasus constellation which have created a gold rush. ORE was quick to claim 'ownership' as the constellation borders its sovereign space, but the Serpentis and the Syndicate, as well as multiple entrepeneurs from the Gallente Federation, have all claimed their own piece of the pie. Inevitably collisions have occurred and the constellation has become a sort of 'warzone' between various groups of greedy claimants.
