I'm not ashamed of my carebear heritage...but even a carebear would like to blow some stuff up from time to time.

This.

Although admittedly I'm a bit more in favor of going out to low sec or 0.0 here and there and getting my ass kicked properly, than in trying to gank some guy / gal flying a mail box in hopes of killing it before npc's kill me. Bear

Good luck in your hunts. ;)

I agree with Zyella, if you really wanna blow stuff up then ship out with a merc corp or join a NS syndicate. You'll get pvp all day every day.. until you puke. And THEN you'll go.. gosh isn't it nice to relax on this lil rock mining away, the kids are downstairs, wife's not bugging me, no FC, no constant jibberish on vent or TS3 and just reeelax... ahhhhh.... suddenly -- oh crap, ships on grid.. and your dead. Don't forget about time. I've ganked Hulks that I otherwise shouldn't have been able to, but because Concord was alright in system resulting in a slower response time, I was able to gank them.

System Security Base Response time
1.0 6 seconds
0.9 7 seconds
0.8 7 seconds
0.7 8 seconds
0.6 10 seconds
0.5 13 seconds

Add about 6 seconds if Concord is on system. It has to be recent activity. Concord could be sitting on system somewhere, but the event that led Concord there was hours ago... Slow response time no longer applies.

Depending on how you set yourself up, if you ship scan and see a decently tanked Hulk, that doesn't automatically mean you can't kill it. Try to wait to see if the player is afk and go from there. I've seen several Hulks activate their defense when I was already 75% into their shields. And Hulks are shield tanked.

My dps is a little lacking, but I can take Hulks in 0.7 if I plan it right. Although I haven't tried 0.7 since some new skills.. so maybe it would be easier now than it was before when I had less dps.

I assume you just want to kill a few miners in particular? If so, then you don't have to worry about becoming flashy red and just mission to bring your sec status back. If this is something you want make you 'career' in this game, then start looking for ways to get into a mobile base.

Other than that everything Daemon Ceed said is right on the money. I'm just throwing in what I felt wasn't explained enough.

Happy ganking Pirate

Sorta related on topic but if there are Concord already on grid and adjacent to the miners would that make them invulnerable to attack? What is the range of these concord vessels?
