Cap Meter

A new meter under the target ships heath bar that will show it's capacitor level. This will be helpful for logi pilots that need to cap up fleet mates or anybody trying to cap out another ship with neuts.

The downside is that it will be taking a small feature away from the ship scanning module and adding it to every ship in the game. Your thoughts?

I disagree with the proposal.

Consider the Curse. It is a cap-neuting ship that, with little experience, could be flown very poorly by a pilot that does not take into account the power of their neuts, their target's cap and regen and all manner of other factors. On the other hand, two years down the line that very same pilot would be able to go out in a Curse and hold down half an enemy fleet with clever flying.

Giving people their enemy's cap status dumbs-down my game, and many possibilities of garnering any sense of true satisfaction when flying a ship long enough to actually get good with it.

As for Logistics, i think that the same is true, and this is speaking as a logi pilot :)

Just use a Ship Scanner.

I don't understand your thoughts here. Are you saying that this feature is a bad idea because it makes the game easier for newer players?

Lets just simplify this and say ...

You should be able to see the Cap level of a ship you've targeted If the ship is in your fleet.

You are coming up with a solution to a problem you made up. It's possible for fleet m8s to broadcast for cap but if they're not doing that, fit a ship scanner to your Basilisk or Guardian.

by that logic targeting ships shouldn't give the shield/armour/hull hp bars. giving people their enemies health status dumbs down the game yada yada

So you have a spare mid slot and can choose between ECCM, tracking link, cap battery (for the new neut protection) or a ship scanner and the ship scanner is never going to be the best choice.

I agree there is a charm to not see targets cap but there really is a lot of gameplay to be had by seeing it and it outweighs the charm.

Tell you what, you fit a ship scanner and I'll fit an ECCM module.

We'll see who's buddies live longer.

Yes, the problem can be "fixed" by using broadcasts and thats how we get round it now. In reality, CCP giving your fleet mates an actual capacitor reading doesn't give away any more information than the fleet already has. So why not just add a capacitor bar and reduce the need for spurious broadcasts.

(Hint : If you bring a scimmi fitted with a ship scanner to my fleet - I'll shoot you myself )

Why not incorporate capacitor meter into the watchlist?
