Who owns the rights to our avatar images?

Does CCP own the rights to our avatar images or do we, since we created them?

I want to know, because I want to put some of my avatar images into a game I'm making as easter eggs. :)

CCP's engine, CCP's game.

I'd imagine its just like everything else in EVE - property of CCP. You'd get yourself sued if you were selling the game.

Looked into this further...

EULA has this in Section 10. B. Paragraph 1:

"You have no interest in the value of your time spent playing the Game, for example, by the building up of the experience level of your character and the items your character accumulates during your time playing the Game. Your Account, and all attributes of your Account, including all corporations, actions, groups, titles and characters, and all objects, currency and items acquired, developed or delivered by or to characters as a result of play through your Accounts, are the sole and exclusive property of CCP, including any and all copyrights and intellectual property rights in or to any and all of the same, all of which are hereby expressly reserved."

I'm guessing "result of play" also governs character creation. Ah well. I would have to get permission to use my avatar images, it seems.

Also, this makes using them elsewhere (such as kill boards, eve faces, etc) against the EULA without permission.

This sort of rule tends to be specific to using them for profit. I'm no lawyer, but a killboard does not make a profit and thus should be cool.

Not sure if it is the law itself or the standard enforcement.

I believe this would fall under fair use.

File a petition and ask. There's even a petition field specific to EULA & TOS questions. They even get answered faster than Exploit or Combat category class petitions looking at my own queue.

GMs are there for more than just reimbursement petitions, they're the final say on any rule issues you may have.

You asked me once, what was in Room 101. I told you that you knew the answer already. Everyone knows it. The thing that is in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.

So would it be fair to say.. If you get permission from CCP, then it should be all good. Never hurts to ask either way.

Why am I reminded of Fenella the Kettle Witch when looking at the OPs avatar?

I use this avatar as my facebook page so that i can pretend to be really gay and annoy my overly macho underclass family.

Is there a legal issue here?

Thanks for the help
