I want dibs on the 'Lady Spank' alias.

Furthermore, why not just have name changes with a tab dubbed "Alias's?" In real life people legally change the name or go by nicknames, it shouldn't be far fetched for capsuleers.

Ok, if i know that 'NastyMike' is likely to bother me when i am doing my thing, and I see him enter the system... then I know to be on my guard.

Now he changes his name....

Everyone who enters the system who's name i dont recognise might be him.

I now have to inspect every person and click the Alias tab to see if they were 'NastyMike'

Yes... blah blah blah, character bazzar (i dont agree with this either)... set standings... (i would still have to check each person witht htat standing)

Why cant people live with their choices?

would be a great feature. But namechanges should really only change your front name. Standings, ... should not change but be pinned at the character itself and no the name. Afterall its just a name, not your character.

But your name is the only thing that identifies your character to me.

That's true regardless of name changes becoming part of EVE.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

No its not,

Without namechanges I can say for sure that everyone who enters the system who's name i dont recognise, is NOT 'NastyNick'

Not in MY hisec!!

anwyay, heres hoping you are never allowed to change your name in EVE.

An ex-corpie of mine sold his alt account purely because he didnt like the name. There will be no more amusing character sales liek that if you are allowed to change name.

COME AT ME BRO

There's ZERO reason not to implement name/race/gender changes as a paid service. And every reason TO do it, namely money.

It already exists in the game. Sell your character, buy a new one. Viola, you have a new name and usually a new race/gender as well, PLUS new skills (or same skills if you prefer that). It is already a service in the game. But I dare say it would work much better if you could change variables in a controlled fashion, for a hefty price of say $30-50. More money for CCP, and doesn't affect the game in the slightest.

Those who are waving the "live with consequences" flag, answer me this. Suppose I go and steal a bunch of ships/BPOs/whatever, sell them, delete this char, buy a new char. What consequences are there for me? NONE. So don't give me that "consequences" stuff. And stop pretending EVE is not Pay2Win either. The best thing you can do is recognize it for what it is, and get CCP to profit from it so they get more money and manpower to improve the game at a faster pace. Blizzard's been making money hand over fist from morons who pay $25 a pop for flying unicorns.

Bounty Hunting system will never really work, not even if they were to introduce a surname system, where all of the individual's characters on all accounts would share the same last name. Because people would just create new accounts with fictional names and pay for them with PLEX or time cards and none would be the wiser. Though if CCP really wanted to, they could require all accounts to be created with a $1 credit card payment, and assign ID surname based on that. But this would harm people with no credit cards, using things like PayPal and time cards. In other words, not worth the hassle.

No, that statement is just flat WRONG.

I know you WANT to be able to change your name. But not being able to do so changes Eve in many ways and its an important part of the game.....

  • Your in game name defines a complete history of that character
  • You cant escape instant recognition the minute you enter local simply by changing your name
  • Being a known scammer affects the value of your toon quite significantly
  • At its core, eve is a game where you are responsible for your choices and you cant escape them easily. A fixed character name is part of this.

Your only argument FOR being able to change your name is that CCP could make money by doing it. Thats not really a good reason.

This argument comes up again and again and again and again. And allwys it comes up from new players. It rarely comes up from experienced players and I can guarantee you it wil NEVER EVER come up from someone who is responsible for corp recruitment.
