I really need to relocate. My current haunts, everyone just lets me run off with their ore before they dock up and hide under the covers. Income is great, but my guns are bored.

And my Thorax-hulls are jealous of the posts here. Big smile

A harsh introduction to Eve

Pirates in general aren't particularly nice people. In eve most pirates will simply blow you up for what ever booty can be found in your ships wreck or perhaps ransom your pod, and sometimes even ransom your ship. To a veteran player a pirate suddenly attacking you can get the blood pumping and to a new player it can not only get your blood pumping but also be very confusing.

A good pirate or rather skilled pirate will seek to exploit such an advantage that confusion brings it isn't a kind thing to do but none of us became pirates because we prefer peace over profit.

The particular patch of lowsec I patrol routinely doesn't get a whole lot of new players, but it is close enough to some new player systems that occasionally a few wander in seeking to establish themselves and create some great lowsec empire or some such nonsense. I always keep an eye out for these new players because I enjoy giving them their first real taste of Eve, and it really is easy profit. Typically it isn't much profit maybe a few mil tops but every bit helps at the end of the day.

I was making some rounds in a particular lowsec system that has a lot of belts in an attempt to spawn a faction rat, when I noticed a giant secure container anchored in the belt. Which is really rare now days, that they get destroyed if they are left inactive for too long. So I flew up to it, showed info and saw who dropped it. A new player who had only been playing a couple weeks. He wasn't around so I left making a mental note that if I saw him in system I'd have to check out that belt for him again.

Fast Forward a couple days later and I'm flying through to do my usual rounds when I notice that the guy in is local, I fly to the planet next to the belt and hit scan and sure enough there is an Osprey on scan. I warp in and he is mining peacefully by his giant secure container and he has even anchored a few more in the belt.

I hit my MWD and charge at him, as he continues to mine unaware of his impending doom. I lock him hit my disrupter and start pounding him away with rockets and he melts, down to half hull in no time. I convo him and it goes something like this.

Me:3 million isk to keep your ship.

Miner:I only have 500,000 isk.

Miner:If you let me mine I give you 50% of my ore I collect.

I can help but smile at this, and part of me is tempted to see if he would actually do such a thing or not. But still it is far more likely that he would just run off and I'd never see him again. Still 50% ore appeals to my inner crime boss, I always wanted to start my own mafia.

Either way though it doesn't look like there is much profit to be had here for me. Half a mil isn't much a ransom and if I blow him up I'm not likely to get more than a couple mil worth of loot if that. So I grin to myself and demand the one thing almost no eve Veteran would ever do but a new player might actually think is a good idea.

Me:Eject from your ship you have 15 seconds!

Normally I give a target roughly 30 seconds to comply with my demands, as preassure makes them more likely to pay and less likely to stall or try to play games. But since I want his ship I need to give him even less time to think so I cut my usual time in half.

Me:15

Me:10

Me:5

At about 4 seconds he Ejects and I laugh to myself, he actually did it, I've got an osprey just sitting in space waiting to be boarded by anyone.

I tell him to leave in the chat and a bit later I see a hauler on scan and he then leaves the system. As this is happening I'm logging in my industrial character who is only a few jumps away and moving him there.

A couple minutes later my character boards his new though some what damaged osprey and heading to station to repair it. I then fly it back to Highsec actually passing the guy I just hijacked the osprey from in his badger on my way.

Loot Breakdown by isk
1x Osprey 5mil
3x Miner II 3mil
1x Medium Ancillary Shield booster 7mil (at the time)
Various other mods 1mil

Total profit 16mil minus ammo and a 500k repair cost to the osprey

I'm still really pleased with my luck, I was able to change what might of netted me a couple mil most likely or 7mil if the booster had survived but the loot fairies hate me I doubt it. Into a hijacking of a ship and a total profit of roughly 16mil.

So yes us pirates aren't nice people but it isn't always because we like to blow other people up. Piracy is about more than explosions and kill mails it is about ISK and taking stuff that doesn't belong to you.

TL:DR I took a noobs osprey, and sold it + mods for 16mil after he said he didn't have enough isk to pay the 3mil ransom

There I was, my WH Corp had just imploded due to stupid CEOs not allowing more than 1 person to fuel a POS

Ive been playing Eve a month so I knew just enough to know that I was stupid broke (at 5 mil) Sad with a Caracel Cruiser that I liberated from my Former Corps hanger before the russians blew that POS to hell (Bloody Russians)Evil

I jump from the WH in a rush and ended up in some Amarran Low sec space...

me being about as seasoned in low sec as an uncooked steak Straight I warped next to the sun to see what this Caracel was worth
I was Totaling up my possible high sec mining career fund when outta the blue this Mammantoh warps in about 10 km away Shocked

I glanced back at my ship's fitting
as luck would have it, a warp scrambler was already fitted and A full set of Assault Launchers (something I was actually skilled in) loaded for battle!

so my thought process... the slowest tackle across 10 km of space, **** It Attention

I Set the engines to full and target the Indy like i actually knew what i was doing... cause I didnt

1 ridiculously long minute of flying later I was finally in range of the Scambler

So I lock up and scram this unlucky indy Smile then fire with all this stolen crusier had Twisted

After a few volleys (and all of his shields gone and his armor about to follow) he opens a channel with me

Indy Shocked : PLEASE DONT DESTROY MY SHIP!
Me Pirate: Yarr! Why should I not send ye to the deep!? (It should be noted I was pretty much high on adrenline at that point)
Shocked: Please just stop firing! Lets work out a deal
Pirate: Ye Cowardly Crow! Taste the wrath of me Launchers (Perfectly timed with my next launch of Missles)
Shocked: Here 25 Million *Wallet Flash 25 mil Isk*
Pirate 100 Mil Dabloons I say! Or Ill send ye to sleep with davy jones! *Wallet flash 100 million*
Pirate BEGONE WITH YE, YOU COWARDLY SWINE!

I unlock and he speeds off into the blackness

I Blink... and load up my wallet... all 125 Million Iskies sitting in my account

And that my friends is how a pirate be born!

Some more Thorax Stories...

There is going to be a few killmails here.

As per normal doing my rounds in Lonetrek and Citadel checking directional for cans, I found.

Lone retriever mining with a few cans around him. Click and they are all mine. Pilot warp away and warp into 70km from me with a stabber. First though is he is going to kite me to death.

Stabber: Apparently not....
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14086880

The next one I was giggling about with corp mates on TS. We were sitting on a gate waiting for wartargets when i see on directional two ships and a can. A Raven and a Osprey with the same name. Now this could be one person and one of those ships are sitting ready for the taking. Or he gave it to somebody/alt to do something.

I warp into the belt and here is Osprey mining which is the alt, the can also belongs to the alt. I flip the can and the Raven pilot returns, wondering what he is doing since he is now targeting me without aggression and fly away from me. True enough he opens fire and so does the osprey. I assist concord in popping the Raven and then pop the Osprey.

Osprey:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14081965

Raven:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14081962

The next one was a Maelstrom mining. I had to save that poor ship.

The owner was mining with a can out, so I quickly flipped it along with items in the can. The owner promptly told me FU in local, popped his own can and took everything back. End result...

Maelstrom:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14088661

I am not even going to comment on these two kills.... what a travesty.

Hurricane:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14117136

Harbinger:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14133565

This is where I loose my Thorax.

Thorax Loss:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14134382

I was doing my normal thing when I noticed a corp busy with a mining op. There are a couple of cans so I flip them all into mine. A minute later 2 ships warp away and comes back with a Tornado and a Rapier. Bother engages and in the heat of the battle one of the retrievers also decide to let loose his drones.

Retriever:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14134390

Tornado:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14134388

The rapier manages to get out of range in structure and warps away. I dock up repair and head back to the belt to find a Dramiel taking my can. I engage knowing I might be killed and the persons name looks really familiar. And so as I popped I remembered he is ranked 56 on BC, with a knack for killing really big ships with his Dramiel. So unable to track him, Pop goes my Thorax.

This won't be the most impressive story, but I figure why not. It's a 'first'.

Inspired by a few others here, I began roaming a few systems and cleaning up pesky cans left laying about. I was hoping that a few of the miners would bite (often times they were accompanied by a drake or other such escorts) but every time they'd simply either run off, or keep dropping more cans.

While I enjoy others working for my income, I was getting a bit aggravated. My poor little Thorax crew spent all day polishing blasters only to never use them. So, yesterday it all came to a head. I, as usual, warped in on a spot a corp of alts (they share names!) uses quite often to jetcan mine, pulled in a few loads of ore, and started filling my own can for the hauler to take. Someone from -AAA- showed up and started bumping me in a shield-tanked Crane. Assuming this was the main and the non -AAA- corp was their alts (or someone from -AAA- just decided to be kind to the poor miners and swat a fly) I figured I'd show them that no matter what, they are not safe.

So, I emptied my can, took my ill-begotten wares home to station and brought back something I knew would get the message across, a smartbombing Mega.

Here's the end result.

The Crane pilot was absent when I warped back in on the mining team and caught them. I noticed later that the crane pilot docked at my station and seemed to be warning the miners. Every time I undocked after the bombing run, they immediately warped to station to hide, leaving behind a can for me to take every time, no less.

So since my last Thorax Loss, I decided to go the frigate route.

In comes the Merlin.

I have always enjoyed the Merlin, love that little ship.

I got a couple of Cormarant kills with it and then noticed a corp mining. Flipped their cans and they come back with a Drake, Moa and a Cormorant.

The Drake is pounding me from 50km and the Moa and the Cormy is ontop of me. As the Moa falls the Cormy and the Drake warps away.

Moa:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14142593

I head out and find a Scorpion rolling around in a belt. I pop a can and he warps away to return in a Ferox, and takes my can. As he goes down I get one of my corp members coming through system to get I on the Kill. I am not greedy and sharing is good.

Ferox:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14142508

I continue alone onwards and find a nother can of somebody mining. Flipped and he comes back in a Ferox as well.

Ferox:
http://kane.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=14143255

As the evening goes by I get more Cruiser kills and Destroyer kills not really worth mentioning.

At the end my Merlin went up in a glorious explosion from the neut Osprey Trap.

Theres always a bigger fish....

My Saturday afternoon had been a frustrating one, getting only a measly hauler kill, i was winding down my run to log onto an alt an join a small gang Vaga roam with some friends.

Now this next part is rather embarrassing.... i tend to think my 'Rax setup is pretty good, and that i am pretty good in it. For instance i have blaster spec 5 cruiser 5 all gunnery skills at 5 all drones skills to 5. so i'm doing as much damage as my skills can muster. A navy Augora warps in and flips my can and warps off before i can lock ( At this point i smelt a rat, But i was hungry and hadn't sated my bloodthirst yet) so i pursue the Augora thinking that i was going to F*** his S*** up.

I locked, then lit up my guns/web/scram to lay into him. Then the dance began and my Heavy Electron Blaster II's ripped through his sheilds and i began chomping armour. Its at this point i realised the fight was gonna go south, because basically he had tons of hp. By the end of my hull i was at best getting to 75% of his armour.

All i could figure by the end of this ordeal was that he must have had a 1600mm and slaves in his head, and that damn ship has a 10% armour boost per level!. Well played my friend it was a good fight.

I may have to train amar cruiser 5......

Recently i've been tweaking my merlin fit trying to get the best out of it. I think ive come up with a setup that works and i've named my ship 'Broken' as it shouldnt be able to fit neutrons and that many damage mods. So i decided to take it for a spin before logging off for the day.

I thought that i might get more fights out of people in the Merlin than the Thorax. But apparently i was wrong, the locals are even more unwilling to engage the Merlin....

Anyway, i had been baiting a miner for a while bumping/can flipped etc when he warped off, i thought he'd had enough and was calling it quits, so i stayed for a few just to make sure.

The EvE gods smirked at me and gave me a Dread spawn, which promptly began to perma jam me, Little bastards. And whats worse is that as i wapred to another belt to break the jam, The miner came back in a Cormy!

Cursing those Gurista rats i spun my ship round and headed back to the belt. only to find the miner had polished off my Dread spawn. (How un-sporting of him) So i gave him a few bumps for good measure, half expecting him to web me and rain fiery death down upon me.. But no, he approached my can that i'd flipped from him, full to the brim with horrible miner droppings. i lock the can and poof, no more can for him.

I'm guessing he didnt like that because;

After this i made my way home, falling in love again with a ship i hadn't piloted since probably 05 Shocked

Lately i've been finding that i have a general hatred for the general public. Not meaning that i'm not a nice guy but my tolerance for idiots and stupid questions dwindles on a daily basis. with this in mind i've noticed that when someone erks me in RL, someone in EVE is going to pay for it.....

My Afternoon started in a rather familiar fashion... With a hauler kill

Killmail

After that, i had trouble getting people to bite. But they were willing to leave their tasty profit filled t2 drones behind. i've baited those guys a few times, i just cant get them to bite.

So i went on my merry way cleaning up the universe one miner dropping filled can at a time, till someone in took offense enough to do somthing about it. This next kill is just a tragedy, that Assault Frigate needed to be put to rest.

Killmail

This last kill was an interesting one, i flipped his can so he warps off posting in local about how i could keep the 300k woth of ore in the can. So i stuck around for a few orbiting the can. Just as i warp off, he warps in, in a Caracal. Cursing i spin my ship round and warp back. To find that he warps to the belt i've just come from. knowing this i just wait for him to turn up.

Killmail

After the fight, he convo's me and we end up talking, he asks if my corp is recruiting as he wants to learn pvp. As i logged off he'd already spent an hour on our TS just chatting.

Just goes to show that you dont always have to be nice to people to make friends.
