Prioritize Yellow Brick Road in Overview

I've got a feature/idea for a user interface improvement. It's small, and of low priority. Just one of those "it would be nice to have" kind of things...

When setting a destination and following the yellow brick road, I sometimes find myself in a large swarm of ships and the next jump highlighted in yellow is pretty far down in my overview list. It gets harder to use when many ships are continuously coming in/out to try to click on the destination. I am suggesting that we have the option to show the next location in the destination queue at the top of our overview.

The setting would be in the "Misc" tab in overview settings and state something similar to "Move next destination entries to top" with a check box to toggle this feature. By default, this setting would be off.

Potential problems with this feature would be anyone using some kind of automated mouse clicking program since the next destination would always be at the top at known x/y coordinates on the screen. A separate problem may be that people who aren't paying attention and kinda dozing off from long runs may begin to think that they are already at the jump since it is at the top of the list, and confused as to why their ship isn't jumping since they see the gate that the just used to jump into the solar system.

The current workaround is to have a separate travel overview that only shows gates and stations in a system and nothing else to make it easier to locate the next jump in these situations.

Or you could just sort by distance descending.

Yup! Thanks for the input Marcus. I'm just trying to get a broad picture of problem, suggestion, work around and potential impact. I'll be the first to agree that sorting is much quicker than loading up an overview on the fly. Maybe it becomes a bit of a problem when fleet starts broadcasting targets to be higher priority than the list of objects in descending order. The on-board navigation may be able to treat the next gate as a higher priority than a bunch of ships flying around if the pilot prefers that prioritization.

The ability is already there. Just make a tab for it that covers just stargates.

You can do this already.

In the overview you can click on the top of the column of icons and it automatically puts the destination stargate(s) at the top.

The only problem with this is if you have a circular trip which goes through the same system. Two stargates are highlighted at the top of the overview list but you have to check which one is the first one to go through. Maybe this should be fixed...
