There are some long-standing corporations whose basic mission is to shepherd people through their early days. There's EVE University, http://www.eveuniversity.org, which runs classes in combat, industry, and support techniques, and provides services like loan-outs of mining ships, a ship replacement program, and so forth.

Then there's Red vs. Blue, http://www.rvbeve.com, http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Red_Vs_Blue_(RvB), which constitutes two corporations, Blue Republic and Red Federation, which are constantly at war, and go out in frigates and cruisers, roaming and brawling basically for the fun of it. I had some corpmates who ran with RVB for a while and had a blast.

This person speaks the truth, and not just because I'm in RvB.

You want to PVP against people who are your approximate skill level? Join RvB. There's a whole range of people, from day one noobs to multi-year veterans, and they're all willing to help you blow something up (sometimes you). ;)

Wow, you sound like a major **** in the back of my mind.

Regulars on the forums know that I will go to great lengths to help people enjoy EVE as much as I do, and I tried to show that in my post.

I have no tolerance for people that place blame everywhere else and not upon themselves. "The world is wrong not me! Fix the world!" In EVE, you won't get far or last long with that attitude. Proof is the OP's rant and admitted quitting.

Yet despite that I answered all the questions and offered sound advice, some of it echoed by others afterwards, showing that at least I'm not intentionally trying to be a troll.

I apologize for the apparent tone. A very raw nerve was struck.

I can promise, Tau is here to help.

But EVE isn't just a game for anybody. Like anything else in the world, each person likes other things best.
If you find out that EVE isn't one of those things that you like, it doesn't automatically means it's **** or broken. It means that you and EVE aren't a match, means you have to look elsewhere for the game you like.

I personally don't mind helping players with some questions. But the OP's attitude and view of the game are totally wrong and I'm not wasting my time on such players.

Rather help another player who does like EVE and wants to learn instead of being "this isn't how I want it, they should change it".

I love that there is no power leveling in Eve. The idea of sitting in a low level mission (notice I didn't use the word quest) killing the same npc for ultimate xp would turn Eve into your typical MMO that gets boring by the time your trial runs out.

EVE is only what you make it. CCP give you the tools so go make some bros have fun.

I did tackling for a small gang within my first week of playing, so it´s not impossible to pvp.

Why I no max lvl in 2 weeks! I r uber on wow.....I should be in a titan! This game suxxors. I quit.

That's basically close to what I see from new players these days. It's ridiculous.

My main concern is if you want to PVP, why are you training skills for mining? As someone earlier stated, you can tackle for a fleet in a frigate. You can also roam in decently configured T1 frigate/destroyer within 14 days and compete.

Focus on training your core skills, navigation skills, weapon skills for the ship that you wish to PVP in and go have fun.

You’re in a corporation which donated isk and/or items to you but they failed to invite you to corp or alliance events? Does your corporation PVP, if so, find out what they need in their fleet and strive to fill that need through training the appropriate skills… or find a new corporation.

A big red flag to me is if you already unsubscribed, then EVE probably isn’t for you.

No arguement there. Seeing rookies that get lost and aggravated because people are trying to help them only to ragequit after spouting rage is amusing.

Redditors podjump into nullsec (if they join dreddit) or losec (if they join fweddit) on their first day. The problem with new players and pvp is not lack of skillpoints, but lack of allies. It is so so so important to not just buy 30 rifters and lose them all but to buy them with 30 of your best friends and lose them together. DO NOT try to solo pvp right out of the box. Join a group and enhance their fighting potential rather than waiting months for skillpoints to enhance your own. (Because even when you have a navy megathron and officer mods, you're still going to get owned by a frigate gang ^^)

This. But you need to hold a Reddit account for three months before you can join! Smile

EvE is a patience game while you learn the skills and I agree with the OP that it does take a long time (sometimes too long) to advance in this game. I also think people forget that it can be disheartening to a new player to train for a couple of weeks (a long time in gaming terms) and then watch as their (to them) expensive shiny new frigate is worked over in 5 short seconds by a Dram or the ubiquitous arty Thrasher in a minor FW plex. You want to fight and blow things up but 9 times out of 10 it is you being blown up. Then when you lose your 10th ship you are faced with a dilemma - how do I pay for my 11th. And I'm afraid that mining is one of the major options. But even that takes skills you have to train for days for and what happens if you don't want to mine because, let's face it, it is pretty boring to a person who wants to fight in spaceships?

I can see why people quit this game. I don't think saying we should weed out players who can't hack it is productive. The new player experience should be reviewed by CCP in my opinion. It is supposed to be fun - not some sort of initiation ordeal. If new players are signing up for PvP (because they want to fight other players not bots in a mission plex) then you can't blame them if they don't enjoy the experience EvE often gives them.

The advice I would give to the OP is the one outlined above. That the right corp can help you enjoy your experience while you learn. Even if you can't always be the best you can still contribute and enjoy the experience.
