Drone Salvaging Operation?

i was in jita and this other player was trying to sell this skill four 10 billion isk is this a new skill as i carnt find it in market and if it is a new skill when will we see it in the player market and how did he get it ?

The skill was available a long time ago but salvage drones have never existed.

Pretty much a collectors item or a skill to inject if you're looking to exceed the normal number of skills available in game.

iirc, there's also another useless skill or two that were only available to certain character builds when new characters used to come with more skills from the start.

The skill was seeded on the market by mistake then quickly withdrawn, some of us were quick enough to buy one or more of the books. CCP removed the skill from inventory but there was an outcry and it was replaced.

It was a cheap book at under 100k isk but has been steadily increasing in value, I sold my 2 spares for around 500 mill apiece about a year after it was withdrawn.

Its been announced (at fanfest by Soundwave) that the Salvage drones are ready to be introduced, just the art work is pending. No idea if they will introduce a different version of the skill book or just reseed the old one, if the latter then 10 bill will be 10 bill wasted.

The Salvage Drone Operation skillbook was only accidentally available for a few days in spring 2007 through running a ten-part mission chain, before quickly being removed from further acquisition in-game by CCP.

I managed to acquire four SDO skillbooks back then, and over the past five years sold them off occasionally as collectors items for between 600 million to 1.5 billion ISK each. I exchanged my last one for 1 billion ISK about an hour after CCP Soundwave let it slip at Fanfest that salvage drones were coming Soon (tm), on the possibility that new SDO skillbooks would be seeded concurrently with salvage drones. I believe the highest price I've seen for the SDO skillbook in the past was somewhat above 2 billion ISK. Besides that, you're taking the risk that if the exact same skillbook is released with the salvage drones, you've basically lost your 10 billion ISK speculation. However, If they retain the current SDO skillbook as some sort of collector's item, its likely to appreciate in value somewhat. All depends upon which path CCP decides to take concerning SDO...

It's an old skill book as people have said above me, but the price should be dropping soon when they introduce salvaging drones. For those who do not know, they are adding them as soon as they can. They have the concept art out ( http://pozniak.pl/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/20120402-122529.jpg Just a quick google search for it, there are probably higher quality images about) that they were talking about at the last fanfest.

Nah. Noctopus is fine as is.

I think the salvage drones need to come in along with a utility purposed destroyer hull. Maybe even by ORE. Significantly cheaper than a Noctis, but with smaller/fewer bonuses... or fewer high slots. Dessie with 2x2 tractor/salvager, plus salvage drones. That could be cool.

Yep, I think I read about it someplace too. The salvage drones existed before salvaging was thought out or implemented. Before then, they would have been looters. They will be nice for mission runners. CNR can only fit one utility high slot module. It also has a larger drone bay, so it could squeeze in an extra flight of light salvage drones. In PvP, heck, keep one of those drones in your bay for salvaging victims.

I bought one last year for 1bil ISK and sold it for 8192 mil isk the same year : )
