And guess what - MORE F***ING SPACE CAMO!

Seriously CCP, you need to fire whichever person in the art department has such a raging hardon for camo.

He would be better of working on World of Tanks or something.

Yay, yet another thread about camo paint schemes...

Yay.

Your replies are always very constructive, aren't they?

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

I believe those extra angel ships are called the Ixion [the cruiser], medusa [the scorpion like ship], fury [the dramielesque ship], echo [frig with large wings], swordspine [cynabalesque frig], styx [spikey winged frig] and the lynx.

This is some official game ship info - "The Echo assault frigate was developed and produced by the Indocon Corporation early on in the first era of galactic conquest. Asteroid mining had become increasingly dangerous due to pirate traffic, and the first prototype of the Echo was made."

Link to a view of them separately below.

Damn, now that I've had a closer look at all the other non-player-obtainable hulls I feel really sorry for the Angels...the dark hulls were pretty damn badass.

Whatever brosefs.

More importantly, they took the camo off the Hawk, which I thought was awesome-sauce and replaced it with brown.

Give the Hawk back its camo!

Camo is fine on many of the normal ships and the navy ships

But camo on the angel ships turns them from some of the most evil mean looking ships in the game into.. mundane military ships.. Takes away all of their personality.

Its terrible.. (And i LOVE all other v3.. i'm not some v3 hater.)

Yup yup.

These are supposed to be Jovian ships.

What does it take to get a CCP dev in this thread?

I want at least one CCP Dev to comment on all the camo with at least a somewhat intelligent explanation / justification for the decision.

As stated a lot of care went into the design of the ships but the skins just take a big steamy hot drop on the design. Pin striping / racing stripes accentuate a ships curves, seams and rivets, giving ships a more aggressive look and a feeling of forward momentum.... Camo distracts from the lines of the ships. and makes everything look like an uninteresting lump in space.

One day we will likely be able to "skin" our ships. I imagine what CCP will do is just give us the ability to adjust the values (for a ridiculous amount of ISK / AUR) for each primary color of the ship. Eve will become an even bigger mess of brightly colored polkadots in space.

Once CCP have made everyone sick of space camo I'm positive they will sell some real skins for an even more ridiculous amount of ISK / AUR.

Terrible!

MORE SPACE CAMO?!?!?!?! now on some of the coolest ships in the game?! LAME!!!!!

The sleek and dark hull plating on the original Dram, cynabal, ect has always been awesome. It gives the ship personality. Actually makes it look like some mysterious piece of back engineered jove tech.

Which do you think would instill more fear in an opponent? A regular old military camo skin, or a skin that subtly reflects the design aesthetics of the most advanced (and often feared) race in the cluster.

I'm getting really tired of this new art direction. Its soooo homogenizing. Seems like they're trying to go for a very last decade "dystopic cyberpunk military" theme with all of the races and factions. The only race this theme fits is caldari!!!

Matte textures on Amarr ships, gallente space camo(LOL!?), more camo on almost all the minmatar tech II and faction ships(dont get me started about thukker ships), Minmatar rookie ships looking like its Caldari, Gallente rookie ship looking very caldari as well.. (Where's that organic look I've come to associate with Gallente ships? The lore calls it "biomechanical engineering".) The list goes on.

Slowly but surely, Eve ships are being homogenized like all the other sci fi games out there.

Problem is, not all the races are "dystopic cyberpunk military" themed.. They are VERY different. Culturally, politically, socially, economically, ect.. Their ships should reflect this just as much as their different styles of fighting do.

I think the art team needs to slow down and look at the factions with an anthropologist's eye and an engineer's eye. And try and come up with something original and fitting for all the races.

What's with the camo on spaceships?? Mottled blacks, or mottled colors matching background space nebulae I can see, but... Are there really that many a) teenager boys and b) southern rednecks playing EveO that it warrants a childish move like this? I don't get it....
