Pirate Faction Ship Niches?

Hey everyone, my main toon currently flies minmatar recon/logistics ships but i've yet to skill up a weapon platform. I was wondering what generalizations there are about the subcap pirate faction ships - I know if I asked which is best I'd get something like well x is best at y while z is better at c etc.

So what are the general strengths of each?

It seems like the Ashimu line of dmg/nuet ships may be good for solo pvp, but then the gallente/minmatar line also has some strong candidates (daredevil).

Any advice is appreciated before I start my crosstrain and skill into hybrids, lasers, or projectile.

Angel cartel:
Speed and good scan resolution. Ships align and move like those 1 or 2 classes smaller. Best for nano style combat in falloff.

Serpentis:
Facemelt damage and 90% webs. Best for in your face combat, weakness very low targeting range. Classic station games and solo pvp tool.

Blood raider:
Neutralizers and long range webs while providing good dps as well. Usually fitted either for full on cap warfare or a balanced ship.

Gurista:
Excellent tank ability and drone damage. Works wonders with the new ancillary shield boosters and drone damage modules. Niche ships nowadays, but when people learn how to use them in gang warfare, they are going to be sought after. A new born solo pvp classic.

Sansha:
High damage projection, excellent fit with ancillary shield boosters, can roleplay to good extent with tracking disruptors.

As far as PVE is concerned, Mach is the cookie cutter battleship while the new contestant is navy dominix (projecting 1350 dps to 50km optimal).

I'd love to be pointed to the 1350dps DNI...

In terms of their roles for the battleships at least

Macherial

High agility kiter, fighting in falloff with ACs either active shield tanked or armour tanked, small gang typically loki boosted

Bhaalgorn

Dedicated neuting ship to break capital target's capacitor, used against and in conjunction with, triage gangs. Typically with talismans

Vindicator

Used for 90% webs with dreadnoughts to enable them to melt sub capital targets.

The other 2 are really seen as they have much more niche roles.

Low: 3x faction magstab, 3x drone damage mod, tracking enhancer
Mid: 2x omnidirectional tracking link, tracking computer, shield tank
High: 425's, antimatter
Rig: 1x drone control range augmentor II, ccc's

Add implants to taste (ca-implants and 5%'s work)

50k optimal is a bit too much

@above me: You can't fit 425mm on a Domi without completely ruining the fit.

@ above me: You need tracking mods. You can fit 425's with CA-implants.

Thanks, I'll have to give one a try :)

Edit---

Some questions on that suggested fit...

Eutectic Capacitor Charge Array
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800

Large Core Defense Capacitor Safeguard I

Cap recharger, Safegauard with a cap booster and 1350 dps@ 50km?

Is the fit so tight that these are the best options?

Hmm, not sure if I'd be comfortable running with a large shield booster; but it has inspired me to hit EFT and come up with 1129dps out to 41km (Garde II out to 49km).

The guns can be down graded to 350mm's for and easier fit and increased tracking at a reduction of range to 31km and reduction of damage to 1107dps.

I have to admit I prefer the drone link aug to get to 86km drone range (around 500 dps with Warden IIs).

Thank you Stetson. This is exactly what I was looking for.

My 320 day EVEmon will have me in a maxed out Macherial and open up the Oneiros and Lachesis along the way since I already got logistics 5 =D.

Stetson is correct, however the blood raider ships don't all get the same bonuses, the Bhaalgorn gets long range webs, while the Cruor and Ashimmu get extra strong webs at normal range (same bonus as all serpentis ships). Also, I would add that the serpentis ships are all extremely agile as well.

excellent summary.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.
