Matching speed with another player, friend or foe, or simply changing your speed becuse you might want to fly at a diffrent speed, could be eaiser if you would make it possible to rightclick on the speedometer and type inn the speed the pilot wants to fly at.
For instance: Rightclick @ speedometer -> Set speed -> [Enter number here] -> "ok"
Still keeping the old cus sometimes you'll need to be quick and then its better to just click somewhere around the speed you want.

Heh. I recall match speed being an essential tool for the XWING/TIE-FIGHTER games like a decade ago or longer.

But in terms of EVE online, is it really that essential in the dog fights?
Isn't "Keep at Range" something alike or that can do the job (though slightly sloppy)?

I'm not sure about matchspeed because of the general lag.
Feel free to explain.

I'm probably typing on a Tablet too, which means the auto-correct is silly and fixing typos is a pain. I ain't fixing them.

It was brought up during one of the "between games talks" on the alliance tournament.
It would help ppl stay together and could replace the sloppy keep at range with better manual control of your speed.
If you want to kite a guy and he is slower then you and you want to match his speed when your at your optimal in order to stay at your optimal it would be quite usefull.
An example could from sniperfleets, where the FC says "everyone aligne planet 5 and set speed to 250m/s"
Having the option to then type in 250 instead of getting frustrated over trying to do some precise mouse clicking would be a nice option.

It can also be looked at as simply a better and easier way of precisely changing your speed, for whatever reason one would want to change speed to a set amount. Not necessarily to match someone else speed.

Aye, saw it also on the ATX.

I wasn't quite certain how it would work in Eve but that explaination is plausible.

I know how essential such an option was in that very old Starwars game but had no clue if it would be just as worthwhile here. But yeah, Keep at Range usually involves rubberbanding on that set range as soon as the target slows down or something.

Seems like a nice feature with no obvious cons. Let's have it, please.
