Stealing ore from jet cans?

Does this really happen anymore? I know this used to be the *thing* to do to **** off miners now we have catas just destorying hulks.

Has this happened to anyone lately.

Yes, it still happens. But there's so many ways to **** their plans. So it only works if miner is new player or isn't smart enough.

Mostly in populated areas. Randomly in backwater systems.

yeah it happens, mostly by people too clueless to fit a half decent destroyer so they're really not an issue.

I don't always steal from cans, but when I do, I take un-anchored GSCs in 0.8 or higher systems.

People are dumb. I'm already up 1.5mil in GSCs!

If you use jetcans it will still happen to you. Pilots like Armtoe and others make a profession out of it. But only a fool uses jetcans - better to use anchored GSC's if you do want to use that method.

I did it when I first started, but I was doing it to steal it not to fight, fly into the belt bookmark the can, warp in with a hauler and sell it. Ive only had it while mining once in the last month.

Instead of giving questionable "protection" ,I would like this friend to haul the minerals to station.

I didn't fully explain what I was saying. IF you use a Retriever and especially if you don't have a hauler alt then anchored & password protected GSC's are a good method of mining. Just make a string of anchored GSC's through the belt situated within mining range of good rocks - ideally +10% ones. The rocks don't move position that much if at all so once you've set them up which can be a little fiddly it's easy. Fill up the GSC's then come back in a mammoth or whatever ship you use and empty the GSC's. Voila!
I have moved on from Retrievers but if you use them the above is a method I recommend. Smile

It's still saving me 1.5mil on GSCs I anchor places and forget the passwords to. (Plus, I'm hoping the idiots will ACTUALLY READ THE FORUMS and STOP LEAVING THEM UNANCHORED)

Also, orca support > jetcan mining.

No, don't do this. They make a terrible mess of the place and are usually left for years with no way of getting rid of them.

No, don't do this. They make a terrible mess of the place and are usually left for years with no way of getting rid of them.


Anchored GSC's will disappear after a month of not being accessed. If you are seeing strings of cans around, they have recently been used.

If you don't have access to Orca support try using a Industrial (with some expanded cargo's,astro cargo rigs and a tractor beam) or band together with your corp to mine together in company. I will say personally i might pop a can or two in combination with some anchored GSC's if im mining alone or if system is empty.It also makes it so if someone is trying to flip your cans they are going to see a lot of anchored cans and will have to look and search for the jet cans.
