Serenity Server growth

1) 3 months ago there are server peaks of ~4000 people logged into the Chinese Serenity server each day. This number has been more or less stable since Serenity went online all those years ago.
2) Serenity migrates (no data for 3 months)
3) Today daily login peaks for around 40k on serenity

I'm guessing EVE has been integrated into the Chinese militaries officer training program, cadets must successfully FC thousand man fleets before allowed to command troops on the ground.



Current logged on:
Tranquility; ok (25,274 players)
Serenity; ok (37,644 players)

CDC was a horrible company that most people hated dealing with. TianCity, the new publisher, has a much more neutral rep and is doing more to promote Serenity since acquiring the rights for it in February.

Basically, CDC went bankrupt for a reason.

To clarify: I'm not shocked chinese server has more people, I'm shocked that the server can trundle along with merely 4k players for 5 years, disappear for 3 months, then come back with tenfold the user base.

Really, is this as simple as 'bad marketing'?

If so, well done to TianCity, incredible server growth since they've taken over
I wonder what it'll be like with the latest expansion and another year of advertising.

It was more of a re-launch, selling the server as a 'new' game, and so the server got a flood of new players wanting to try the 'new' game. The server won't continue to grow at that rate - however it will be interesting to see if Serenity follows the same pattern as Tranquility, and slowly grows in population month on month, or whether it will go the way of most MMOs, and die a slow, drawn out death.

Partially, the above - the relaunch hype brought in players as if Eve were a new game to try out, which TC played well in their favor. Partially, CDC combined the worst of EA and SoE and drove many people away from the old server.

Either way I'll post what I posted in the other ones:

95% of that daily login population are bots. I have a few friends who play on there and they swear by that statistic.

That hasn't be true for Tranquility in years.

Also +1 for Eve-Offline having switched the direction of the graphs.
