Optimizing POS access rights management

We propose to patch-up the old weak spots before getting in to something new.

Let’s start with the POSes. It appears to be that the original POS management/control system designed by CCP in the early years of EVE was meant for a corporation with 10 to 15 people and apparently has not changed since then. Or how else can you explain the way the POSes are functioning now…
Here are the main items which we need to correct:

- Create a separate role/occupation – “POS commander” (the person who assigns POS rights to others). This role should be POS-specific (tied to ONE specific POS, not for all of them)

- Give each pilot his/her own dedicated cargo space in the corporate hangar (the way it is on stations now) with a space limit set by the “POS commander” or the CEO. This personal space can only be accessed by the owner, the “POS commander” and the CEO (in case the owner goes in to dipsomania or something ).

- Roles/occupations like the POS fuel technician should also be POS-specific, not like it is now: anyone who has this role in the corporation can interact with any POS of the corporation.

- Give each pilot his/her own dedicated space in the ship hangar (SMA)(the way it is on stations now) + plus allow to specify access to each ship (personal only/public) stored in this “private” space. Also if the ship is marked “public” – allow to set boarding terms, like specifying pilots who can take the ship by name or set access by a password.

- Give password change rights only to the owner, the “POS commander”, the CEO and to whomever the owner gave these rights to via the hangar interface. Not the way it is now. What good is a password, if anyone with a rank above “newbe” in the corporation can change it.

- Allow to anchor storage containers (and set password) within the POS shield. I really have no damn idea why is it not allowed to set a passworded container within the shield. Are there some kind of “electromagnetic InTeRfErEnCe” (from the developer’s view) that do not allow the damn thing to anchor on a password?!

- Allow only the “POS commander” to be able to switch of the POS shield. Him, the CEO and whomever they gave this right personally (via the interface).

- We need a historical log for the corporate hangar (at least for the publically accessed part).

Right now it is quite difficult to protect your not “securely fastened” property from corporate theft.
And also the LEGO-POS effect and so on.

There's a reason POSes are being reworked (for this winter I believe).

For so many reasons, including the one mentioned in this thread. Almost everything about POSes isn't what it should be right now, that's the reason they're working on completely overhauling them.
