Hello,

I am a "returning player". I used to play EVE, 2 or 3 years ago. Just for sh*ts and giggles I reactivated my account. I find the character I am currently posting with, somewhat over 3million skillpoints and a fair number of certificates that should allow me to fight with the most basic level of abilities. Electronics/Engineering/Frigates/Cruisers, all level 5, so that helps. Something like 500 million ISK in the bank and a single equipped Kestrel in the dock. Most of my RL knowledge about the game is gone, though.

I don't care about making money, I don't care about dying, I don't care about a whole lot actually. I won't be playing this for whole afternoons at a time, I simply don't have the time due to RL stuff. I do want to go and pewpew.

Is factional warfare the right thing to do to accomplish this? I like shooting stuff, but I don't want to have to fly for half an hour before I find a single target and neither do I feel like getting insta-shotted by big ships all the time, it's only frigates and cruisers for me for now...

Yes it is a good choice. A better one would be to join Red vs Blue if you just want to shoot at people in easy mode.

Personally I like FW combat more than RvB, there's just more variety and you get more small skirmish fights with fewer than 5 or 6 involved parties. Plus I have a disdain for the station games (on one of the respective HQs) that RvB tends to gravitate towards when there isn't a fleet out. Plus in FW you get cheap faction frigs and cruisers!

Shiro FW will make you bank. Join the right faction though.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

Bank, as in, bankrupt?

Which faction to join. Probably Caldari, seeing as I am caldari myself. I'm going to join one of the militias tonight!
