Dualboxed Blackops setup

I'd like to use a couple of characters to mount black ops attacks against unsuspecting ratters - A quick in and out of hostile territory.

My cyno character can fly all recons (at lvl 5) and my dps character can either fly a Redeemer or a Sin (JDC 5). I'm aware that the Sin is renowned for being the weakest of the BOps BS, but the ability to fit decent neuting/versatility makes me think perhaps not otherwise in a 2 person gang.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the best recon for the job and also the best BS to go with it. Thanks!

Since the Sin is pretty weaksauce, I'd go with a Redeemer for your black ops of choice - of course, I'm not a highly-respected authority on T2 battleships, so you'll want a second opinion there.
For the Recon, you should definitely go with a Curse - it's awesome for quick hits like the ones you're describing. You'll have them neuted down to nothing in seconds.

But a better combo to go with curse would be Vargur not Redeemer.

... but then the OP's suggested black ops hotdrops would be impossible.

I'd want to be using a Force Recon, not Combat Recon. Therefore I'd be looking at a Pilgrim, Arazu, Rapier or Falcon for the following reasons:

Can pop a covert cyno
Can use covops cloak
Has shorter cyno duration

Wait, is the Sin still "weak-sauce" after the drone boost? Seems like a Pilgrim + Sin would be absolutely brutal surprise sex. I've actually done Arazu + Panther though, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I'll go hunt up the KM where my corpmates lost my Panther.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

Arazu for the point range and the Redeemer for the dps.

If you're not antisocial and have friends, preferably ones that can fly bombers it would be good to add a few of them.

Gah, of course. I forgot about the covert cyno thing. Definitely a Pilgrim, sorry.

Pilgrim + neut sin (cap? what cap?), fit the sin with heavy drones + neuts + drone damage mods. The neuts will quickly shut off the active tank of any ratter that you are attempting to gank, and 1000dps from the drones on the pilgrim+domi will melt most things pretty fast.

Worried about the Pilgrim as the range bonuses of it's EWAR. It's reliant on being VERY close to the target to ensure it can Scram/Web the target before it gets OOR while the Rapier and Arazu get bonuses to keep the target locked down at longer range. The Falcons advantage is the survivability until the BOPS comes in and starts dishing out.

If you fo Pilgrim and sin you dont have to waste all the din utility slots for neuts... Solaces etc also work wonders...

If your blops hotdropping a ratter, you don't need to hold him down, you need to kill him.

Black Ops is good fun
If you want to dualbox I'd probably advice you towards the beforementioned arazu+redeemer, though most setups works realy, the pilgrim is nice to shut down any active reps/hardeners so that you can slice through the tank like butter with your black ops BS.
The rapier is quick and agile and the web bonus is sexy, you will be able to make short work of smaller ships that i'd suggest you avoid if you run with the pilgrim or arazu.

Keep in mind tho that if you go with gangs, the insane pointrange makes the arazu the ship of choice for (as we call it) hunting.
