He makes a post about pvp being forced on him. He doesnt like forced pvp and complains. The forum community bashes him and he asks for the thread to be locked.


Funny thing is, the same forum community that is so big and bad protects pilots who log off to save their ships.

I think eve pvp so try to be as realistic as possible, dying to ganks and being unable to log to save your ship are both good things that are or should be in eve.

Mr. Hobogear has been ranting about one instance where he was denied a kill (due to log) and now refers to it on every post in every topic on Eve-O....

i believe there may be a significant point here that's being missed. no action in eve is intended to exist in a vacuum (other than space).

if a flag is enabled to provide consensual pvp:

how many would immediately switch this flag?

what effect would having that percentage of the population buying significantly less ships or modules have on industry?

which in turn would have what kind of an effect on eve as a whole?

i'd be curious to hear some thoughts on possible outcomes.

Thing with this kind of discussion is that the forum is dominated by two very vocal groups when it comes to PVP. Avid PVPers and the 'classical' carebear, the latter wanting to be left alone, the ones who would switch that flag and be happy.

There is also another large group that is underrepresented but would potentially have a major impact on the game population should something like this be introduced: The player that engages in typical carebear stuff, but sticks with EVE mostly because of the inherent dangers even in such professions.
I'm one of the latter group. I enjoy the indy side of EVE, it allows for casual gameplay whilst still developing whatever you do. However, if the edge was taken off that - a no risk switch, turned on by most of the competition - I'd quit. Might as well just play x3 or something if there is no constant risk of another human ******* up one's day.

Yes? Using the tools at your disposal to solve your problems isn't quite the same thing as asking CCP to ensure that you have no problems that needs to be solved. So where's the funny?

A No-Kill Switch is the death of EvE,
because the in the long run, the economy would collapse.
At least i believe, because there would be a huge drop of kills.

Also, it would change the simulation to something else.
A game. WoW. Grind in Space. Solo-RPG.


It's really bad that people are so dumb.
I mean it. Really. It's dumbness. Or stupidity.
Short sight. Egocentric. I don't know, but it's really bad.

First they join and have no clue about how EvE works,
then they get it (OMG BAD PERSONS), then they want to change it.

I really hope Ambulation get's real one day,
because that's a place where all those carebears and pussies can live ...
(and that's - i believe - the main reason why there's no StationPvP ... because of the sheep).

We really should try and get a message somewhere sticky,
where every new player reads it ... so they realize what's going on in here
and that EvE Online is the biggest ******* of all games out there and we love it !
