On Monday, July 16 we will be applying mandatory software upgrades to our core infrastructure which requires us to reboot core switches that handle all EVE and DUST traffic sequentially. This downtime is expected to start at 11:00 UTC and finish by 12:30 UTC On Tuesday we will continue upgrades that handle all EVE traffic with newer and much more powerful hardware. This downtime will begin at 11:00 UTC and finish by 12:00 UTC.

On Wednesday, July 18 through to Friday, June 20 we will use the full 30 minute downtime for fine tuning of the new upgrades.

You need to patch for little over a day Monday11:00 UTC til Tuesday 12:30 UTC , and then you need almost two years(!), July 18 through to Friday June 20 (2014 I suppose) for tuning ???ShockedShockedShockedShocked

Spose thats what happens when you cut costs of food on the polar bears that powered it before and replace the bears that died with hamsters.

Does CCP realize that in spite of their proclamation regarding time a major portion of Americans don't understand military time and have no idea whatsoever what UTC is.

I noticed them using UTC on an advertisement for the TV streaming; I guess I always thought with ads that the goal was to reach the maximum number of people?

The thing was at 15:00 UTC, lol, whenever that is Roll

Good thing CCP isn't an American company then I guess, and tbf if a player hasn't worked out yet that "eve time" isn't synchronous with their tz then chances are they haven't learnt to read clocks yet.

In game that is what most people do, ignore the CCP clock and just look at cell, computer, pad, actual old style clock, etc., so CCPs hard stance is basically by passed.

Learn UTC? If you asked around half the people would come up with some bullshit Icelandic timezone with U T and C in the initials Lol

As far as not being an American company, no doubt Roll, but they do want our dollars...

Maybe they can suddenlly train several hundred million americans to use militaary time and think in offsets from UTC. Really? Idea

For an advertisement, people don't suddenly stop and say "oh gee I must translate the time to my timezone in this internet advertisment"

lol?

People just don't bother, the ad fails, calling the people stupid doesn't help the ad at all.

Neither does being pixel macho Roll

And in the end it is just lazy, any decent developer can use the browser localization to convert thier time to local time for each user so every user sees the add in thier own time.

I think it was about Americans not wanting to convert UTC into local time and realizing they are on the butt end of the world Big smile

So now instead of using UTC time, which is a global standard, you want me to use one of the American timezones? Is it really that hard to add or minus a few hours on the EVE clock?

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

Probably more like if you want to get money from xyz you need to localize a bit to make them feel warm and fuzzy and taken good care of.
And as everyone knows by know there are certain people(*) on this globe which are unaware of/ignorant to certain standards and they need a bit help to overcome this in order to make a buck from/with them..

(*) on purpose not narrow-minded down to North-Americans who are not aware of universal-time or able to understand 15:00 UTC
